LD 40

I'm in.

Not much to say other than planning on doing the jam with a friend and regardless of the theme, we've got plans to make a game about a certain astronaut going around slapping people.

Probably will be using either Unity or Game Maker and AESprite or Gimp/Blender depending on whether we decide to go 2d or 3d with it, I have no idea what he plans on making music with.

Good luck all!

First Night, So far so good I suppose

Really just got Harrison here so far, but he'll serve as the base for other folks.

Don't be fooled by his dapper charm, this guy is a total bad-ass.

LD 44

Been a While

Last LD was December 2017... didn't actually submit anything but had fun anyways. This is the first time I've got a VR setup at home for an LD event, so I might do something with that.

Anyways...

  • Unity
  • Blender
  • Possibly giving Masterpiece VR a try for throwing together some models
  • ASEprite for textures usually or possibly
  • Gimp

  • Audacity if I ever actually get to do sound for one of these

Good luck to everyone. I see everyone's complaining about the themes being terrible, so it's good to know nothing has changed too much  swang.gif

Ludum Dare 45

Oh, Ludum Dare is today. Good thing I have a free weekend.

I'm used to the April/August/December schedule. Oh well.

I haven't even looked at the themes, probably better that way. Whatever it ends up being 90% of you are going to complain about it instead of just... you know... making whatever you want anyways like you're entirely allowed to do.

My last shot at this in April kind of got interrupted, but that won't be happening this time.

Probably going to do something with VR so I can get some practice in. Unity and Blender mostly, possibly AESprite and/or Gimp depending on style. If I get around to any sort of sound Audacity will most likely be a part of that. Oh... and probably VRTK to kick things off... didn't realize that existed last time and wasted a bunch of time just trying to get things started.

Anyways, that's about it.

Good luck everyone and for god's sake just have some fun with this.

Hmm... decent start.

So, I took "nothing" quite literally. You'll start with the void of space and sort of influence the paths of cosmic matter to form nebulae into a star system. Some kind of "Stellar Shepherd" or something... I'm designing this with VR in mind hoping to let you kind of push matter around with the motion of your hands rather than just shooting it with some magic gravity ray or something. Ultimately I'm hoping to end up with something between Katamari Damacy and Viva Pinata. This may actually be doable within the timeframe if I don't continue to spend as much time as I did fiddling with particle stuff and reading about science that I'm definitely not going to accurately implement.

Don't feel like I HAVE to sleep, but I still probably should. So... here goes.

16 hours Left... Kinda Have a Plan

As usual I spent most of my time just kind of playing around. I think I've got an idea on how to turn this into more of an actual game now though. Right now you kinda float around in space and bop nebulae into each other until they form a star. I need to add some obstacles to actually make that somewhat of a challenge.

This ended up looking like more of a space potato than a star about to be born.

I just realized I'm listening to "The Final Countdown" as I'm writing this... how appropriate

A Game About a Drinking Game?

The best part so far is that the way I set this up... one of these dudes happened to hit another with a missed punch... and so those two started fighting each other instead. Hadn't even thought about it yet, but it's working out so far.
