I just wanted to update what game library I will use for Java – it will either be LWJGL (Plain), Slick2d, with box2d, and box2dlights, or Libdgx, with Box2dLights. Have fun everyone !

Beginnings of my “Minimalism” game look pretty good I used an online game name generator to help me out with the name and I think I got a decent idea going!

>> Going coop (Team Death Match 2v2 may have bots!) – don’t know if I will integrate single player, that would mean coding AI which for 48 hours I think the coop will be a lot!

So I got a basic game going got the Splash Screen, Menu, Music etc going, so yeah I’d say it was a good night of work for beginning it!

I had took a break to make some coffee and food and what do ya know its a very nice day out!!!

I thought Ludum Dare would motivate me to create something – yeah no, if anything it demotivated me, maybe its my brain drawing a blank of what do to with the game, with this very odd theme, but anyway this might turn out to be a bust for me…

So I had to do a lot of changes to my idea of the game – so now that I’m done for the day gonna “relax code” or play some games with friends I hope you all will enjoy this pointless game (in its current state 😉 ) Don’t worry much work to be done!

I coded my self into a wall with my original idea so I decided to start from scratch and try to make something for the jam!

I hope everyone had fun with the compo, I know this was one hell of a learning experience for me! Def. joining in next Ludum Dare

I wanted to contribute in this Ludum Dare as I failed so I’m entering the jam with a quick “proof of concept” game I call it Minimal Win!

So if you want to know what I have to add – well here…

>> Random Map Generation

>> Make a win screen

>> etc… (lots of stuff to be done), I more likely wont complete the game but I do want to implement more into it, but as a “first time entry” I find it quite amusing… Not that its fun or anything! 😛

Why the hell not, Im in!

You know with MiniLd coming up it should be quite fun, I think it has motivated me to start programming again, (since LD26) anyway, does anyone have any tips on how to stay motivated? I lose interest in somethings so quickly, by trade I am a diesel mechanic, I work for a logging company… yet I like to program games, also design electronic circuits (mainly embedded/audio) anyways any tips or comments are appreciated Happy programming!

I would like to know if any of you folks know how to run Pyxel Edit on Ubuntu ? I know you need Adobe Air but the last supported Ubuntu version of Air is too old to run Pyxel Edit.. I really like that program and would like to have it on my Dev PC thanks!

Edit: Never mind I figured out how to, for anyone on Ubuntu wanting to do this, all you have to do is use the software center install Wine, download the installer for Air 3 from Adobe, install it with Wine, then get the PyxelEdit.air file, right click and hit Open With Adobe AIR Application Installer

Now after my first Ludum Dare, I learned something very important, don’t rush, and don’t over do it. Do what your skills are capable of. My last, last minute Jam entry was just a fail, I never really did work on it after that as I said I would, but I hope for that to change. So again I will enter the compo and if that don’t work out, Jam it is.

Now tools

– IDE/Editor: Intellij, Codeblocks, or Unity3D

– Programming/Developing: LibGDX, SFML, or Mono

– Tools: Pyxel Edit, and various other audio visual tools (most of them on the ludum dare tools page)

– Timelapse/Streaming: XSplit, Chronolapse

– Other: Coffee lots of that, and sticking to my idea from the start.

Anyway I wish all of you the best of luck, and hope that everyone has a lot of fun.

Looks Fun enough!!

Its close to 1:00 AM and after pulling a 12 hour shift at work I think enough is enough…

But I am Happy with my progress got a map going got my main character idea, things are going good.

I will continue developing tomorrow. Good luck to all!

Too bad this weekend is not a good weekend for me to make a game, got lots of work to do outside (prepare for our Canadian winters) and plow up the field to kill the weeds with frost >:) anyway, work done:

– Some Sprites, but not all.

I hope that I can finish for the Compo, but if not, Ill submit in Jam – This one will be decent!
