Something playable!

So my first day of my first ludum dare is over, I’m going to follow all those hints posts now and get some sleep. Looking back on what I did in the past few hours it seems like so little…but maybe thats just because I dont realise what went into it..or I procrastinated alot…

Progress so far, in all it’s replacement-art glory…

My game is essentially about the “evolution” or changing of an element, you must defend against the evil neutrons that are trying to stop you from turning copper into gold and breaking the laws of physics!

As you may have guess this post serves to notify as many people as possible that there is a (mostly) playable version available here, and that you should all go play it and tell me how bad (or good :D) it is, you know you want to…

I know that some of the blocks split up/have different speeds/dont come straight for you, that was planned. Also I will do all the artwork tomorrow…wanted to get something that worked done for the first day at least.

Well at least its interactive…

So day 1 is finished for me (I’d rather get a good nights sleep I think…I’d like to actually be productive tomorrow :P) and here’s what my game looks like so far:

Definitely minimalist background textures 😀

The basic premise of the game is that you need to evade the police for as long as possible (and all that you control is the steering).

If you’re interested, you can read a slightly more detailed post here…I’m fairly tired now so I’d rather spend my precious weekend hours resting for tomorrow rather than retyping things 😛

Im Going in!

I'm in, and I'll be using a language I've never used before: Go. So I'm using a language I don't know, with an engine I don't know (I'll either use raylib-go or Ebiten, depending on which is easier to setup/use), and I've got a few other commitments this weekend...what could possibly go wrong?

Day 1: Progress Update

Day 1 is over, I've learned a whole bunch of stuff about Go and a few interesting things about fractal/space-filling curves too! Unfortunately I had some trouble with getting the camera to move/scale the way I wanted it to but eh, thats just how it goes.

It doesn't look like much at the moment (http://imgur.com/4CWp55D, solid-color-square-programmer-art is the best programmer-art) but (almost) all of the systems are there, so I should be able to get those finished up early tomorrow morning and then start on making things look/sound/feel more exciting.
