GTA style buildings done. Today focuses on the economy mechanics!

Well, multiplayer didn't make the cut. It was close and part of me sort of wishes that I didn't try to do it, but I learned some new techniques. Maybe I'll come back in a week or so and clean it up for itch.

Speaking of itch, it's the first time I've used their platform. Pretty impressive, actually. GG Everyone. Now it's time to go rate some other games.

So, up until last spring when I started working on Wizard Arena, the last game I had made was Pong in my CS101 class in 1998. Yep. I'm old. I've made a great career writing Java business applications and I've really enjoyed doing it; however, with the advent of "modern VR games" I've been straight-up inspired. That love for game making that drove me to take CS101 many years ago has been re-awakened.

I saw a post on Reddit about the LD39 game jam. I've seen them posted before, but the game-making monster in me was not yet awakened. This time, however, I took the opportunity and I'm glad I did.

Seriously, thank you to everyone. I had an absolute blast making Leaf Runner which is basically Dope Wars combined with GTA1 style movement in a ... you guessed it, "Nizan Leaf." Running out of power wasn't my first choice for a theme, but in the end, I'm happy I got the chance to make this game.

Tomorrow I go back to work. But this weekend will be with me forever.

So, I took the opportunity to try something new - specifically a CLI library that I've had my eye on for a while [Lanterna (Java)]. So, without further ado:

The game is completely multiplayer, but the bots should provide a good challenge (they're pretty hard). My advice is to attack early and often, but don't build too many barracks (upkeep costs on soldiers = starvation). Can YOU last 5 minutes?
