Day 1 basically

After getting the Theme last night while being at dinner with family, and having prior engagements from 9am - 3pm, I only got to just start my game today.

To be fair I only finally decided what I was going to do today, and I've been typing up a storm since.

I was hoping to have all the code done today, but that was a little ambitious. Tomorrow, I plan to get as much art, and sound out of the way as possible. Where ever I am at the end of tomorrow will determine how much stuff I will have to hack together in the last minute.

Little disappointed I couldn't do a Compo, but this is the first time I've worked on a game solo as well so I shall settle for the experience.

Tomorrow is another day!

Late Update

Forgot to post before bed, and had too much to do to write anything upon awakening until now. In reality I still don't have enough to write this, but I need a break.

Functionality wise game is pretty much done, however art and sound implementation are no where near complete. I recruited my girlfriend last night to scour the internet for sounds in my stead (I was never going to make my own sounds, this is my weakest area by far).

Even with the help, at this point, though there are a few hours to go, I think I'll abandon the hope of getting a feature complete, and ship it with placeholder assets, and no animations...

If only I hadn't wasted those precious hours on enemies, when I ended up canning the idea anyway...

Oh well. Over all I'm pretty happy with the turnout. After I add a bit more UI to the game for the timer, and factor in player health at end of game towards their overall score, I might try to add some sound, and if there is any remaining time, try to create an additional playable level, although it might be a bit of a stretch with how things are going.

See everyone at the finish line! :checkered_flag:

Made a woopsie

This jam kind of caught me by surprise. I saw I got a email from Ludum today, then thought, I haven't checked when there next jam is. So I got here, and realized then next one was in a couple hours. Decided I would try to make something even though I completely forgot about my plans for the next 2 days... Basically, I have only a couple hours to make a game.

I'm still going to try to make something. Always fun to try.

Callin it done

Well I had more time then I thought in the end, despite my busy weekend. So The game that came out was better than I expected.

Still less of a game, and more of a prototype/proof of concept, but I'll call it done.

Just gonna try to make some UI changes/fixes and maybe fix my sound FX, but otherwise it's done. :)

please check it out, the idea was for it to be a CCG Racer: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/card2riving

Might even use this game as a testing ground for other features I wanted to try out in the future (like online multiplayer, and integrating google docs).
