Dabug LD31 Results

#47 overall for my first LD? I’m beyond humbled. Thank you to everyone who has (and hasn’t :P) played my game. It was an absolute pleasure playing all your games too! I’ve loved game development for many years and when I stumbled upon Ludum Dare three weeks ago, I was amazed to see there was such a big game development community out there. Finally, congratulations to all participants – I was so inspired by the level of talent and innovation! Can’t wait for LD32!

Dabug says thank you :)

LD is no longer what it used to be 5 years ago: too many people are jumping onto the Unity bandwagon. Today, the emphasis is less on coding and more on graphics (I tend to think).

@pht59x, well I didn’t use Unity, but if people can make awesome games with Unity, all power to them! Also, graphics and design are very important for games too. Arguably, it’s more important than the coding, as long as the coding isn’t sloppy or buggy and works smoothly. I do want to point out design is not the same as graphics though. Complicated code may lead to a satisfied programmer/developer, but ultimately you have to think about the audience, the gamers, who will eventually play your game. If you’re a talented coder, all kudos to you, but it’s almost useless if you don’t also have some sense for design. Most coders tend to develop that sense though, and to have both programming ability and a sense for design is a skill combination that I really admire. Of course, that’s why collaborations are always good as such talents are often hard to come by. Great game developers are given way too little credit imo! Personally, I think games should try to focus more on a meaningful narrative too. :p

I am in!

This’ll be my last LD as a teenager *cries on the floor*, and my third LD. I’ll be updating progress on my twitter over the weekend so feel free to follow me in the link next to my name! Good luck everyone!

Update

Yes, as the title below suggests, I gave in and went for an endless runner (oh no, not another one …). Well, at least menus are fun!

Presenting “Avastory”!

Hey guys, “Avastory” is now available for play! Click on the GIF below to bring you to the game page.
There was a LOT more I wanted to add but even an all-nighter didn’t give me enough time. Either way, I hope you can still enjoy the game at its bare bones.

This highly informative Tori is waiting! (oh god no why would you kill it… )
Did she mention you can press “C” to interact with things? Uh, yeah, you should probably do that more often…

Haha, it’s like you’re ending the gif by taking out your frustration on the bird.
