Haxe game coming your way

I’m entering the compo.

I’ll be using Haxe with NME, which is simply awesome technology. Haxe is a Flash-like language that gets automatically translated into various other languages depending on the target platform. NME is a lightweight game/audio-visual engine built on top of it. There’s a newer version of this stuff called OpenFL, but I’m sticking with what I have/know for the time being.

Stuff that I’ll be using:

Haxe/NME

FlashDevelop

GIMP

Audacity

I’ll also use a very basic set of classes that I wrote: sprite, circle collision, line collision, misc math helpers, simple menu.

Amoeba Sheba! Got it done!

Well, I got my game done just in the nick of time. The idea is that you play one of many circles that have gravitational attractions to each other. You need to get same-colored circles to collide and annihilate each other. You start off with 10 seconds on the clock (blue blips at the bottom). You get 10 seconds for each successful pairing and lose time for causing differently-colored circles to collide and merge. When they merge, their color combines, and they grow larger.

It has bugs, for sure, but it’s turning out pretty cool so far. I’m going for an Android port next.

I added an Android version. Now you can use your finger to your heart’s content.

This is how you install an Android .apk file:

I’m really happy with how this game turned out. I think that you’ll really like it. It takes a few attempts to get it, but then you’re addicted.
