Streaming your games!

I will be streaming for a good portion of today the many wonderful games people have made. I always have a lot of fun making games for Ludum Dare and now that I have actually started streaming fairly regularly on twitch I have been looking forward to playing all the wonderful games people spent 3 very long days making and showing them off to anyone who was interested!

If you have a game you would like me to show off check out my stream over at https://www.twitch.tv/drazil100 and type the command !addgame followed by a link to your game in the chat (make sure its the version of the link with the name of the game and not the link with the $ sign as that doesn't work for whatever reason)

I will be starting in the next couple minutes and will be bookmarking every game I play so I can leave a comment and go back to and judge when the judging opens up!

Streaming your games: Day 3

About to start streaming games again for people who want to showcase their wonderful work. To have your game played type !addgame followed by a link to your game (preferably the version of the link without the $).

The queue size has been reduced to 5 as last time the queue got too big for both me and viewers who couldn't stick around long enough for their game to be played. If the queue is full stick around a while and a slot will open up!

I encourage (but do not require) anyone who watches my stream (especially if you request for me to play your game) take at least a little time and play some of the other games I end up playing and leaving some feedback on their game's page! Everyone who participated spent the same long sleepless 72 hours working on their project and I want everyone to at least have that work played!

Type !addgame in my chat followed by a link to your game to add your game to the queue.

Post Jam Showcase Stream!

We had a ton of fun this jam and while it wasn't always smooth sailing we feel really good about our game this time around! Now that the creation period of the jam is over it's time to start my favorite part of the jam and check out what other people have made!

The very next day after Ludum Dare 38 I started streaming jam games because even though judging was not yet implemented I really wanted to see what other people had made and give people a platform in which they could show off their game. This jam I plan to do it again!

If you would like to show off your game I would love to see what you accomplished in such a short time! Stop by my stream over at https://www.twitch.tv/drazil100 and type !addgame with a link to your game to be added to the queue!

I am really looking forward to seeing what people have made this jam and especially so with this theme so I can't wait to start playing games!

Streaming your games!

As usual I will be playing your jam games live on my Twitch. The thing I find most fun about streaming jam games is the chance to interact with the developers of a game live and get some insight into how the game was made.

If you would like to see your game played stop by my Twitch channel and type !addgame followed by a link to your game and it will be added to the queue. If the queue is full don't worry because slots will open up as I go down the list!

Streaming your games!

I'm at it again! Last night went really well and I played a lot of great games and I would love to play more fantastic games!

Would love to hang out with everyone over on my Twitch and chat about all the amazing works everyone worked so hard on!

If you want to show off your game on my stream simply enter in my twitch chat !addgame followed by a link to your game (in the same line) and you will be entered into a queue. If the queue is full don't worry though cause I will be clearing up new spaces as I play each game!

Streaming your games day 3!

First of all I would like to thank all the people that took the time to play our game. We managed to get our 20 votes and I am really happy the reception for our game has been so positive.

As I did the last 2 days I will be streaming your games over on my Twitch. If anyone would like some live feedback head on over and type !addgame followed by a link to your game and you will automatically be added to the queue. If the queue is full don't worry as I will be opening up slots as I go through the queue this way nobody who has gotten into line has to wait for too long to see their game played.

I look forward to seeing more of the crazy ideas you all have come up with for this jam!

About

This is my first jam since LD40 and the first one since I think LD35 that I did almost all of the programming for myself. I almost didn't participate this time around but on Dawn (8pm) of the last day I had an idea and managed to crunch through the night non-stop to get this done in time. It's a simple game but I am very happy with how it came out and will be interested in seeing how it stacks up.

Standout Games I Have Played So Far

We currently have 1 week left to play and rate games. At the time of writing I have played and rated over 76 games and I thought I would take a moment and highlight some of my favorite games of this jam.

Games Still Below 20 Ratings

ON TIME

ON TIME

I just finished playing this game by @virtualman52 and it is a REALLY well designed puzzle game with well thought out level design. It's pretty difficult but each level manages to do something unique with only a small handful of mechanics.

Package Quest: AI Adventure

Package Quest: AI Adventure

The mad lads behind this game actually managed to incorporate ChatGPT into their game. In the game you actually have conversations with the NPC you are trying to deliver to so you can track them down. It's a little annoying how none of them seem to know about, or want to receive your delivery, but it's a really unique experience worth checking out while they continue to pay for the ChatGPT API key.

Games Already Above 20 Ratings

Delivery, Xtreme

Delivery, Xtreme

This is by far the most polished and snappy game I have played so far this jam. It's extremely unique, it has a great disruption mechanism to force you to split your attention, and it is really fun to play.

Hive

Hive

This game is frankly just really relaxing. It controls really nicely, even on keyboard and mouse, and it has really good world design. One thing that is really cool about this game is that as you collect pollen the game gives you bees that deliver pollen to you.

Critter Courier

Critter Courier

This one has a full story to it and actually manages to be pretty humerus. It took me a few times before I was able to beat it but it's really well designed. The map has a lot of detail to it and the descriptions of where you need to go are pretty clear if you take the time to decipher the clues.

Dirigible Delivery

Dirigible Delivery

This one won't be for everyone as it is really slow paced but this is one of the most relaxing games I have played all jam. The mechanics of using the wind to get from point A to point B is really ingenious. I probably spent over an hour just going from island to island and of all the games I would like to see fleshed out into a full game this one has some of the highest potential.

A Reminder To Everyone

We have about 3 days left to rate games. Many games are still below 20 ratings but some are extremely close. Don't forget to check out games under the Danger filter to help people get the final ratings to get their score.

Experiment:

To everyone reading this let's try and play 5 games in Danger.

We currently have less than 2 days until ratings close so let's try and push as many people through to getting a score as we can.

Danger Hour

We have about an hour left to rate games. Many games are going to come up short of the 20 ratings but some are close. Lets try and get as many games through the finish line as we can!

Edit: Please post links in the comments of this post if you find any gems still in Danger. I will try and rate as many as I can in the time limit and hopefully others will do the same.

Edit 2: My initial recommendation got it's 20. Check the comments for links to other games still in danger.

Loading Zone: Our best jam game so far!

Loading Zone.png I just spent the day going through every jam I and my friend @coda-highland have ever participated in (both as a team and independently) and throwing everything into a spreadsheet. Turns out we crushed it this time around. Loading Zone ended up topping the charts on Overall, Fun, Innovation, and Theme.

Here is how we did:

Screenshot from 2023-05-20 22-48-33.png

Screenshot from 2023-05-20 23-04-38.png (Entries in orange are games we did not get 20 ratings on. It is also worth noting that both Running Out of Space and Game Over were done by Coda's son.)

This jam was admittedly a bit of a weird one for us. I started jamming with Ludum Dare 35 and started jamming with Coda in LD36. By the time we got to LD41 I had burned out while Coda kept jamming without me. After years of not participating I finally convinced myself to participate again and we were ready to go, only to find out the week before that we missed the notification that the event date had changed and that Coda had scheduled the wrong date off work.

I almost didn't participate in this jam. It wasn't until Dawn (8pm) of the final day that I actually came up with an idea I actually liked and I ended up pulling a complete all-nighter to actually make the thing in time. On top of that I did it in html52d, Coda's own custom HTML5 game engine, which I had no prior experience with. While Coda was able to help towards the end, I am used to him carrying the majority of the work load. This time however I programmed almost all of it while he, funnily enough, was the artist!

Overall I am extremely happy with how this turned out. Not only did I manage to pull through with 1/3 the time everyone else had in an engine I was completely unfamiliar with that has no documentation, but I managed to beat every other game the 2 of us have ever worked on in the process!

Thank you to everyone who played and rated this game. I look forward to participating in the next jam!
