Upon being cursed by Hela, Skad feel fear for the first time: They feel their lungs breathe. Realizing the value of life, their selfishness will make they do everything to keep breathing, and they won't stop raising they sword for a second, after all, Demons don't breathe.

Who shall win this fight? The demon fighting for their newborn soul, or the giant fighting for the safety of his loved ones? You can't delay the inevitable.
