Wazzup!

Friends are great!

My friend gave me news about how he was going to do his Game Music this year and it inspired me! He said he was going to record his drums with a song he makes. I decided i am going to try to use my guitar with a song i make, it will be epic!! Especially if Double ZOMBIE Rainbow becomes the theme, because then i can make an epic metalcore song!!!!

Epic metalcore is a must! I’ve got a nice recording studio setup with electric guitar so I’m planning on making a heavy metal song for this as well! Can’t wait to hear you shred, Double Zombie Rainbow style! Hey, that would be a good band name… =) Best of luck.

All’s i have for recording is Audacity and a little M-Audio Fastrack Module that plugs into my usb port. It should be pretty tight because the quality isn’t to bad. I will be running an Ibanez Gio Gax70 through an old crate head to one speaker, and through a recording module to my laptop. I’ve been playing for like 5 years seriously. (I’m 14). Whats you setup?

Even if theme is something boring like “girls dresses”, epic metal core will spice it up!

Nice Theme!

I was so exited for Double Zombie Rainbow, i made an intro song and a theme song.

Intro
Theme Song

Not that good vocals though, but hilarious epicness!

Enemy’s as weapons sounds cool to though!

So i am now 2 hours in and don’t got much to show, but my idea and game are going to be epic!
Here’s a pic so far.

Im ready

I havent been on this site in a while and for some reason i thought to check whats goin on here at the ludum dare and it turns out i checked at the right time, i will be in this ludum dare compo. I will finish a game for sure in game maker pro. also i will attempt creating a flash game with the flash punk library.

Tags: 19, dare, for, im, in, ludum, sure, the

Imma readddy ta roll!!!

Cant we just skip 10 days to get to ludum dare!

IM PUMPED!!!

Cant wait, mountain dew is calling me out by full name.

I will have two options, depending on what the theme is

Opt 1:
If my idea for a game is conceivable with my knowledge of Actionscript:
IDE: Flash Develop
Code: AS3
Sfx: Sfxr of course!
Music: My guitar, and/or pxtonee

Opt 2:
If my idea for a game is NOT conceivable with my knowledge of Actionscript:
IDE: Game Maker 8.0 Pro
Code: GML
Sfx: Sfxr of course!
Music: My guitar, and/or pxtone

Almost there

Just need to add a starting screen, and a couple more levels.

Here it is, find your way out type game!

Is there a way to know what people are rating my games, and is it against the rules to change the background music of my game?

It’s about your priorities. I say LD. God can wait for a weekend. He’ll still be there.

Ludum DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARE

Posting the poll here and not at your church makes me unsurprised that “Attend Retreat” has no votes. :)

I never have this kind of problem because ludum dare IS my religion.

Retreat = 4 times/year

LD = 3 times/year

actually,

retreat happens 2 times a year to i realized. Spring and fall, i could have swore it was 4 though.

FlashDevelop Alternative for Linux?

I’ve been trying to convert to linux lately, and i set up .net framework under WINE and FlashDevelop installed fine, but wont run. I need an alternative as3 IDE for linux, or even just an as3 editor for linux. Any suggestions?

i Already got as3 up and running fine with gedit and flex 4.1. Flash punk is not giving any errors, but the screen is black when it should be a set window. how might i set a window size in standard as3, i am use to FlashDevelop doing it for me.

Geany is a nice, lightweight ide-like editor.

What about FlashDevelop in wine?

@Sos Um, did you read my post, it doesnt work.

I’m using the exact same setup as you, Linux, gedit, flashpunk, etc.

Just a helpful tip though – if you’re planning on using trace to debug, make sure you have:

-the debug version of Flash Player,

-a mm.cfg file in your /home/username/ directory containing “ErrorReportingEnable=1 TraceOutputFileEnable=1” (without “s)

-and you run mxmlc with the -debug flag

Your traces should all go to ./macromedia/Flash_Player/Logs/flashlog.txt
22. Apr 2011 · 13:12 UTC
thanks man, i usually dont use traces anymore, ill just through in some code, and if it doesnt work i go to find my mistake. But i may use them, so thanks. Also, i still dont know weather i should do a flash game, or a C++/SDL game. That will depend on the theme, im newer to C++, so yeah. Also im still debating weather to team up, instead of just hang out, with my best friend this year. Id make the engine why he worked on graphics/sound and such, and then we’d both work on the programming and level design. Then we’d have a nice game to enter into the jam.

…..that’s actually rather freaky. I’m still deciding exactly the same thing as you – literally, whether to do flash or C++/SDL, as I’m also newer to C++. And the teaming up with a friend idea and entering the jam – him doing graphics and sound and me doing programming is exactly the same too…. kinda spooky 😛
22. Apr 2011 · 15:06 UTC
haha, id just start off the programming, he knows all of the advanced math functions and stuff, so we’d both be programming. but yes, VERY SPOOKY.

Im In

Hi, this is my Third ludum dare, will be my second one i finish hopefully. Still dont know if im working alone or not. Here are my tools and such.

Operating System: Ubuntu Linux
IDE/Text Editor: GEdit with some handy plugins
SDK: Flex SDK 4
Compiler: Flex Actionscript 3 compiler?
Library: FlashPunk
Image-editor: GIMP
Soundfx: You Guess

I’m looking to start a dev team

Hi, my name is David and i am looking for people interested to be in a small dev team. I am a good programmer in AS3, but i suck at making chiptunes even though i play guitar and know how music works and such. I also am TERRIBLE at spriting/graphic design. So in this dev team of mine would be:

Me: Lead Programmer
?: Chiptune/music developer
?: 8-bit/what ever matches the game artist

if you think you qualify and you are interested feel free to comment or find me on twitter (dsv101). Thanks,

dsv101

What’s the pay going to be like? I’ll need to know if I plan to pass this on to some artist folks I know.
07. May 2011 · 00:40 UTC
You wouldnt be payed until we sold or licensed a game. Which i have never done yet due to not having any artistic abilities. I am unknown to the world and plan to come out of my shell and be noticed.

I think LD needs a forum just for this kind of thing. So people can connect easier.
08. May 2011 · 21:37 UTC
Hey, your music isn’t really my style but it is good so your in! I lean more towards chip music. But you are definitely good! Like i said i’d be doing flashgames, i hope you are in the irc so i can talk to you. hit me up on twitter. Where can we talk?

Hello, I’m also a programmer, so I really don’t have much to contribute in terms of what you don’t have yet. However, I am still offering to join you because I could help get work done and could bring thoughts and ideas to the table. On the other hand, it would also help me get some experience working on games with others and help me get into better working practices (i.e. I’d finally start commenting my code). Win-win :)
08. May 2011 · 23:55 UTC
i am not looking for another programmer, sorry. I dont use Adobes products either, i dislike them. Although i use there flex sdk :) If you do sprites that would be good.

09. May 2011 · 00:57 UTC
No, sadly I don’t. Oh well. I was just thinking that it would be very convenient if you did take me, plus the post says “Lead Programmer” which I chose to interpret as meaning other programmers welcome as long as I lead. :)
09. May 2011 · 01:18 UTC
thanks, i guess if i ever need help ill ask you.

LD21

I’m In, and you don’t care!

I’m in, these are my plans :)

IDE – FlashDevelop
Language – AS3 with FlashPunk Library
Platform – All flash compatible devices that have keyboards and the internetzz :)
Music – LSDJ/Guitar/Bass
SFX – SFXR/Audacity and maybe LSDJ
Fuel – Mtn. Dew/Beef Jerky/Funyuns

Other Notes – last year turned out great for me and my buddy in the jam, but this year he will be in Chicago for LD Weekend so no company for me.

I’m All Ready

I decided to whip a quick site together where I will post my progress.

Below is the link :)

http://dsv101-ld21.tk

A problem

Does anyone on EST Time have much progress? Because i passed out at 2:00 AM with just everything on paper, and 2 sprites on the screen.
