Finally Done

Sapperengineer and i finally got Dig Quest done. we both agree it may be one of the best games we’ve ever made. :)

LD29

WINO: 4 hours in.. and we’ve got a title screen.

WINEINEIWWINE

This is going to be a game about WINE! Or, more accurately, engineers dueling each other to extract the most amount of natural wine from the ground using technology. It’s like a 2D wine-fueled Infiniminer.

Oh yeah!

Good morning

6 hours of sleep is surely enough to get cranking again.

WINO: We’ve got characters

TheWiners

We’ve created our character roster for our game Wino!

The digger is modeled after Pres. Nixon and the Engineer kinda looks like Shaggy + Hempuli

These are the tentative stats:

Engineer:
-Can build pipe
-Can build beacon
-Can build bin
-Stores least amount of wine
-Can hold most metal

Winer:
-Can store the most wine
-Fast moving
-Can slowly sap the enemy of their wine

Digger:
-Digs quickly

Prospector:
-Can locate wine
-Slowest digger

The basic network “engine” is in place and we’re ready to start pumping out actual gameplay.

It took two hours, but we freakin’ did it

There was an incredibly insufferable and minute bug in our networking code that practically broke the game; We found it!

Not really much to report, just was happy enough to warrant a post.

Lava! Blocks! Wine bins and central repositories. It’s getting to be a game. 8 hours to complete it!

Good luck.

Time to implement multiplayer

~6 hours left, and it’s time to implement what’s expected to be the hardest part.

Also, the Tin system is in, so the engineer can collect and use Tin to build the blocks.

MULTIPLAYER IN 6 HOURS, ON A PROBABLY BUGGY CODEBASE, ON PROBABLY LITTLE SLEEP!?!?

IT’S HAPPENING

Multiplayer! Got to mad rush to get it done.

We have failed

We got a pretty rudimentary and playable game going, but no win condition, losing, or master server that anyone can connect to. We simply bit off more than we could chew (at least in 48h), or perhaps spent too much time listening to Madonna.

On the plus side, however, we have a working game that we can quickly polish up and be built into something better. Good luck to the rest of you on judging.

Here’re some pictures of better times.

If you say “we”, that would mean it has to be a Jam game anyways. So why don’t you take the next 24 hours to finish it? Looks nice!

My friend’s going home tomorrow and he doesn’t want to work on it separately. In addition, tomorrow’s a school day and we wouldn’t have much time anyhow.

We’re back

SuperDisk and I have missed a few Ludums, and the last one we attempted we didn’t finish (yet) but now back and ready to rumble.

1:30

everybody get ready!

CoinSlot:Our project

coinslot

For the jam, we’re making CoinSlot, a game about what happens to coins when you put them into a coin slot. It’s a bit of a Rube Goldberg type machine building game, with a twist.. that will be revealed later.

It’s inspired by the Blue Ball Machine (http://blueballfixed.ytmnd.com/) and an old Cartoon Network Ed, Edd n Eddy game (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/games/eds/candymachine/)

Holla.

Progress

We have rudimentary pipe placement. :)

Progress

So here’s today’s work

We have managed to get our coins to move through the pipes correctly

Some Progress

We’ve been developing some new types of machine parts:

Parts Preview

There’s also a part I’ve decided to leave a surprise for the game’s release :)

More engine bits, plus new parts

It took forever getting these done, as MMF2 is pretty horrible when it comes to fine tuning motion and stuff. Time to implement more parts, then finalize the SECRET, SUPER COOL aspect of the game.

A Little Late

Superdisk and I are running a bit behind. But since we’re a team and other various reasons, we’d have to enter the Jam anyway. So, we’ll still (probably) get the game done. :)

Time for some brainstorming

Welp, Time To Get Started

We’ve decided on an idea and now it’s finally time to begin :)
