LD 38

Endless Plumber is in!

My first Dare, and I must admit I'm pretty excited!

I'm not going to have the whole jam (life intervenes), but I'll try to steal a day over the jam and put something together.

My objectives: - The simplest thing possible. - Clean, fun gameplay. - Pixel art? Who knows!

Woo! I may try a timelapse of my progress, or capture some dev. footage for YouTube after the fact. Whatever I make, I'll stick it up on my itch.io for everyone.

Blocknauts Development Timelapse

Hey guys, I created a timelapse of my work on Blocknauts and finally got it up on Youtube. Blocknauts is an open-world space exploration game based around a jetpack and spherical gravity. I had a lot of fun working on the game, and I think it turned out pretty good. Take a look!

Having problems finding games? Try using Feedback Friends!

Hey guys,

It's been floating around this week, but I wanted to again bring up the excellent LD Feedback Friends as a good option for finding new games to play.

What's so good about this site?

Well, two things. First, it implements a cover art for entries, so you can kind of see what each game is like.

The second, most important thing, is that it ranks games by something analogous to Coolness. Jammers who leave feedback gain points, and the ratio of points of feedback given vs. points of feedback received is used to rank games. This means the first games you'll see are ones whose devs help out the community, but need feedback themselves. There's also an option to 'Rescue' games with high given points that haven't received any feedback yet.

I think this is a cool way to reward participation in the community, and help spread feedback across many games. As games receive feedback, their points equalize and they fall down in the ratings, so you should be seeing a different sets of games as over time the relative point scores change.

If you think all of that is crap, or just too complicated, there's also a random sort option.

Blocknauts Components Map

Hey guys, Matt here. I've been getting some wonderful feedback for Blocknauts, and some players have had difficulty in tracking down all of the scattered rocket components.

Never fear, I've managed a remote scan of the system! It took some effort, but I've retrieved enough data via the downlink to identify the general locations of all 16 missing rocket components. Hopefully this will help retrieve all the parts and reassemble the rocket so our brave Blocknaut can return home.

Ratings are up, don't forget to play Blocknauts!

Hey guys, @pov has turned on the ratings, time to start passing around that delicious feedback!

Don't know what to play? Check out LD Feedback Friends, which can show you random games or those most deserving of feedback.

Also, if you like open world exploration games, space sims, or collecting stuff, consider my game Blocknauts! You can catch it at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/blocknauts rocket_exploded.png

Blocknauts Playthrough (+ NEW Ending Cinematic)

Hey guys, Matt here. I've put together a full playthrough of Blocknauts from start to finish. Also check out the brand-spanking new end game cinematic at 13:25!

If it looks fun, consider giving it a whirl, I'd love to hear your feedback! I'm working on an AfterLD version of the game (for fun, not for judging) that offers improved controls, the ending cinematic, and more, all based on what I've heard so far.

Please help others cross the finish line!

Hey everyone, first thank you so much for the feedback for my first LD entry, Blocknauts! I've gotten great feedback and more ratings than I could have hoped for, it's been great!

That said, voting is still on, and many others need your help, too! There are a lot of great games out there that need ratings and developers who need constructive feedback to improve their skills. Please consider spending some time to play few more games.

Click for games that need just a few more ratings!

I didn't make http://vatcss.info/ld38votes/, but kudos to the community member who took the time to make it. Let's finish LD38 strong and get as many fellow developers across the finish line as we can!
