So much left to do

I have no idea whether I have a chance to finish in time, but my girlfriend keeps insisting that I post something here, so here it goes.

Programmer art and rough level design meshed together into the first draft of a game based on adding new rules and constraints with each level : (will the gif even display properly ?)

I "finished"

I ended up with only a single level, and a very long list of improvements and balancing to add in the future. Still, it is playable, and somewhat faithful to what I had in mind.

Try your hand at the daily tasks of a diligent worker as the Benevolent Leader provides you with increasing guidance as to how to live your life.

Reasonable doubt ?

I hope this doesn't come out as some shameless disguised advertising, but I had some trouble figuring out the whole submission process right before the compo deadline (it was around 3AM, mind you), and actually realized very recently that my itch.io page wasn't even accessible to anyone but me.

Since I haven't had any feedback or ratings on my game yet, which I suppose is not out of the ordinary, I have currently no way of knowing for sure whether everything is now working as intended.

Could anyone please check that the game can be downloaded and launched appropriately ? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/leaders-guidance

Leader's Guidance Post-Jam version

Before any activity on this site inevitably dies down, I guess it's time to publish a somewhat updated (and probably final) version of my Compo entry, Leader's Guidance. I tried to address most of the issues raised in all the invaluable feedback I got during the past few weeks.

New features include : - A title screen - New rules, for additional ways to express your deference to your Benevolent Leader - Quite a bit of tweaking, for a fairer (but somehow still more difficult) experience - More than one level - Sound effects (you asked for it !) - An actual ending, for the most dedicated workers

Nothing to rave about, even for a first-timer, but overall this jam made for quite an enlightening experience. I'm definitely in awe of the level of polish so many of you were able to put in their games over such a short time period.

My deepest thanks to everyone who took the time to test and provide feedback on my game. See you in a few months for Ludum Dare 41 !

Probably a good time to quit

I've had some surprisingly well time-managed game jams recently, but this will not be one of them. Starting more than 12 hours late was no big deal, but I also had to go for a game with an obviously unreachable scope.

Anyway, in spite of its title, this post is more like an attempt to keep myself motivated for tomorrow. There might still be a chance to salvage something out of this. dubious3.gif
