LD 39

I'm disapointed with my performance last LD, time to make it up!

Last LD was a disaster for me. I hit a creative block, and couldnt continue, the problem with me was my lack of discipline to finish the project. You'd think the limited time was motivate me plenty but due to the lack of sleep and the parade I did (I play tenor drums in a marching band, heavy shtuff.) the night before, I couldn't think straight. My friends told me not to stress out about it, and that I can just pick it back up in august, which is exactly what I'm going to do. Hopefully/Definitely this Ludum will go smooter for me, and I cant wait to get started

I will be using - GameMaker: Studio 1.4 (Game Engine) - FL Studio 12 (Music) - Aseprite v1.1.13 (Spriting) - BFXR (Sound/FX)

Best of luck to everyone!

Finished!

Ayup! I hit a block last LD but smooth sailing this time 'round! Feel free to check it out here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/$34289

Feeling satisfied :)

Last LD was such a dissapointment, I couldn't even finish my entry. It led to a huge burnout from game development. Until last weekend when I had the determination to try again. And I don't care what people rate, if any do rate at all (Even though I LOVE feedback), but I'm just happy that I finished making a game. While yes I technically have finished games before this is one that I feel is whole. It may be short due to 48 hours, but I'm proud.

I hope you all enjoy my latest game, INVISIBRO, a platformer where you're constantly turning invisible. sPortal.png

Free Tiles!

Hello all! In celebration of 4 ludum dares in a row (I'll be it one was incomplete), and that I haven't given up on game development for 2 years, here's a free asset pack! I was making it this afternoon as practice, and it went surprisingly well, feedback/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Feel free to use this in a jam next LD, or for any project that you want. It's open source, so commercial games also count (although I doubt anyone would use it for a commercial product).

HERES THE LINK TO THE TILES: https://fisherg.itch.io/gppack

I do ask of one thing though, if you DO use it, please tell me! Comment on the Itch.io page with a link to your prototype, or just DM me through twitter (@TheFish523)

I'm an Idiot!

There's a post down below explaining how I made a tileset to share with everyone but I somehow managed to forget to put the link down. So here it is:

im so tired duuude

Post-Mortem thingy, also free pixel-art pack!

The past few Ludum Dares I've always had my family and friends to give feedback, which often leaves to me getting some pretty cool ideas. However, this one I honestly forgot about playtesting, and just felt around everything myself.

I made levels, but I was really just going through a check list of what I wanted in a level, i.e. Pits, Secrets (Which it seems everyone missed the stash on level one. Hopefully you could find it >:D) , and enemy placement.

I kind of forgot the necessities of level design. I didn't have the play-testers to tell me the character is too fast, because I was already too used to the movement. I made pillars to slim, and with a fast player, it feels as if you're in one of those rage-platformers that is trying everything it can to make the player not progress. I don't want that, I just want a fun thing for all to play!

Anyways, I made some notes on watching streamers and YouTubers (Thanks Jupiter Hadley, and Elysia Griffin!) about the problems in the levels. I'll probably make the changes tomorrow, and if you guys want, I'll post an updated version full of extra (much easier) levels, but will of course have some good challenge in them. Also a level select? And not having a total-reset button that I accidentally left in from the debugging phase (whoops!).

If you want to play my game, or a new cooler version (If it's out yet), you can find it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/invisibro

ALSO!!! I made a pixel platformer asset pack. It comes with, an animated character, a grass tileset, and backgrounds. If anyone wants it, you can find it on itch.io, here: https://fisherg.itch.io/

LD 44

Rough Saturday.

Really tense family-related stuff happened. But I'm ready to just make a game now. 24 hours late. So consider it a compo submission in the Jam, maybe. Who knows maybe I can complete the compo in time ;)

Best of luck everyone!

A Deal on the Moon - Assets!

Very basic prototype top-down adventure assets, for the programmers who hate looking at squares ;)
Feel free to use in any way you like!
