I’m In! (Really Late)

Inform 7

Well I knew I was going to be late, but this is just obscene!

Oh well.

This is my first time actually participating in the contest! I hope I can still get my game out by the end of the competition, but I might have to put it in the jam. Anyway, here are my design specs:

Language: Inform 7 (Text adventure whooo!)

Sound: None :(

Graphics: None (It’s a text adventure, what do you expect?) [probably]

Base Code: Adventure Book by Edward Griffiths (Framework code for text adventure style games)

Any tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated, seeing its my first time LD’ing.

Time to Shower Myself… WITH IDEAS

The birth of our cute little virus protagonist!

Only about an hour into my actual coding, and things actually going pretty well!

I got all of my base code in place, and was able to splice together a little script that lets me display images within the game! It’s a text adventure, so working images into it makes me feel pretty accomplished so far.

As you can see above, I have also created the base image for the main character! The premise of the game will be that every time you die, you “reboot”, and gain any upgrades that you found in your last run.

I’m not really sure where I will go from here, so I am going to take a shower. Hopefully the hot water sends some ideas to my brain.

The Final Push

Space Invaders XD

Heyyyy everyone! I slept pretty well last night, and got up early to keep working! Here is my status report for my text adventure game, Ares Evolved:

Completed:

-Base code

-First Chapter

-Each evolution’s art

-Title Art

I know it sounds like I havn’t done a lot, but I have! The whole rest of the process is just a lot of text writing.

And I dread trying to upload this. That might be the hardest part.

I’m Out :(

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Ughhh. I am so close but I just didn’t quite make it. I guess I am going to get my game a little more polished, and then submit it to the Jam. :(

I want to yell at something now.

Sorry to hear that. The theme this time was so hard.

I’m in! (Prep time go!)

It looks like I am going to end up making a game instead of studying for finals!

This is my second LD, and hopefully the first one that I actually complete. With the help of “The Game Jam Survival Guide”, written by Christer Kaitila (http://www.amazon.com/The-Game-Survival-Guide-ebook/dp/B007R0NTF4), I have been mentally preparing myself. I just finished testing all of the programs I plan on using to make this game, and even practiced with the actual release (which is what gave me the most trouble last time). I FEEL READY!

Today begins engine coding period of the competition. I am hoping to have simple platformer, shooter, and puzzle engines done by the time the competition starts. Wish me luck!

Programming specs:

Coding: Game Maker Studio Pro

Graphics: Gimp

Sound Effects: sfxr

Release: Dropbox

Inspiration: Pandora (I Fight Dragons Radio)

Lets get kicking!
