Another Bloody Day

Our first Jam in a while. Having great fun playing everyone's games.

Our entry, 'Another Bloody Day' is a bitter sweet story about a koala making it through the day as a parent. Help them feed their child, decorate a cake, choose an outfit, and ponder the futility of existence.

I'm in like argyle cardigans

Locked in a day off work and going solo this time. Going to use MelonJS for the first time, so I can make something web playable and probably do something 80's arcade inspired rather than narrative driven this time, but we'll see what the theme is. Hopefully something thematic. Oh yeah, love a good thematic theme.

I'm in like tie die and Potato à la Hasselbacken.

I'm going to be entering the Jam using my own game toolkit I'm yet to publicly release. I'm pretty excited to give it its first proper spin having just rewritten the original from Flash to be web native. 13 years of off and on development and I'm finally ready to use if for Ludum Dare.

My best Jam entries I've kept the scope small, worked reasonable hours, and got solid sleep so I'm going to stick with that plan. I always like to start a Jam by going for an hour long walk up the hill behind my house and really thinking through the themes and my ideas out in the fresh air.

Have fun everyone and take care of yourself.

Dig, dig, dig: Simple mock-up

A quick mock-up with some old sprites I had lying around that my son made. Going with a much more psychedelic inspired theme digging down into the earth and the sub-conscious. Mushrooms, eyes, fears... Can't wait to see the GFX my team mate is drawing away...

...and that's a wrap.

It's time to go to work so I'm calling it done. It has been a ride as always, we're keen to keep working on this after the Jam. A few rough edges but lots of fast, fun, weirdness. I present Can You Dig It?

Play Now (Web)

Far out!

I've managed to have a decent post jam sleep and finally play some of the hip games my fellow freaks have been making and wow, they're groovy. I dig it. I really dig it! My only question is...

Can you dig it?

I'm in like tiered flamenco dresses

Excited for my 7th Ludum dare. Doing a solo Jam entry this time in my own weird WIP toolkit that will hopefully be ready enough to share come next jam. I'll try and finish up in 48 hours and work from scratch anyway, but leave myself some leeway to get outdoors and get some fresh air this weekend before heading back to my web dev grind life next week.

We're in like Bird Day

Bird Day is when you wake up and you can hear a bird and the bird is telling you not to go to work. It's very important to listen to the bird. If anyone asks tell them its Bird Day.

This will be our fifth joint Ludum Dare and first in three years. Tools undecided at this point but probably some arcane work flow like Procreate > Adobe Animate > HTML 5 via Ruffle or some such madness. Let's find out.

Ephyra progress - Morning day 2

Morning here on day 2 and back to it. Spent yesterday focused on making the main character movement fun. Got basic movement, level scrolling, and item collection all working.

Today hopefully we can work on levels a bit more, add some obstacles, SFX, polish and get the background looking a lot more interesting.

Ephyra Progress - Morning Day 3

Morning down under for last day of the Jam. We got backgrounds in for Level 1 and other new art in yesterday and generally improved things a bunch. Lots left to do today including finish spikes, add fish, tons to do on levels and final polish. Very happy with how things are shaping up.
