Working away!

So I have an idea and am busy beavering away. A bit sad I can't post photos / screenshots here :(

The basic idea is a quirky world builder / planet tamagotchi thing where you build / look after a little world. The current idea is to have the following parts:

  • 0) Intro
  • 1) Choose a world
  • 2) Make your own mythology
  • 3) Create stars
  • 4) Defeat Asteroids
  • 5) Design flowers and prettify your world
  • 6) Deisgn people
  • 7) + Help them fall in love
  • 8) Strap on rockets to escape the sun / invaders
  • 9) See how you went

I can add (or more likely drop) parts depending on progress and then expand afterwards if I want.

I have also decided to probably do the Jam instead of compo, so my family can help with graphics and stories and things. Yay!

Prototype of Intro is done, now working on prototype of 'Choose a world'. Timelapse recording my LD for the first time as well which is fun. Will need to put my head down now.

Progress

Prototype done!

My prototype is more or less complete now, so it's time for a victory dance. Then more sound, plot and polish.

Old school arcade action for me anyone?

Anyone got some old school arcade style pixel art goodness for me to play? Closest thing I've found so far would be supernova, which I thought was very cool https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/supernova.

Ye Olde Time-lapse

Do you enjoy watching people churn butter by hand or hammer out horse shoes? Then you'll love watching me make my My Very Own World in Flash.

But first Play It so as not to ruin the lovely story. I promise it's SHORT, FUN, and EASY TO PLAY.

LD 39

Probably using - Flash / Adobe Animate maybe HaXe - BFXR - Audacity - Maybe LMMS

Thinking of doing something narrative again. Hoping Round 3 themes are better than Round 2 ones. Getting exciiiiited! Have fun everyone.

Your self-driving personal habitat ends up in a bad galaxy after a freak magnetic storm. Cruise around on your hoverpod collecting crystals to power your habitat and escape to the next planet before the highly volatile one your on explodes or your habitat runs out of power. Or something like that.

Some progress

A bit slow for my liking, but some progress. Decided to go with Haxe Flixel in the end. Off to bed soon.

Heading down

This little guy was firing from the wrong cylinders. I'm sorting out little details and bugs then on to making levels after dinner (fingers crossed). Hope your games are coming along OK out there. I've been fighting my tools much more this time than last, but I'm getting there.

Almost there (..., ..., ...)

When almost all you've got to do is see if the last level is actually playable (and maybe bother with an end screen if it is). Screen Shot 2017-07-30 at 8.26.11 PM.png Screen Shot 2017-07-30 at 8.35.01 PM.png

Done.

Jam done: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/cryozia

I'll see if I have an appetite for any changes in the morning. Goodnight everyone and good luck!

Ludum Dare 46

We're in like Faux-leather Bermuda shorts

I'm back for the first time since LD39. My last two entries were compo but this time I'm going to Jam again just like my first LD with my Wife and Son.

Tools: - Code: probably Pixi.js (never used it before) but maybe Flash (will never die!) or Haxe Flixel depends on the game - IDE: VSCode - Art: Procreate on an iPad Pro + other stuff maybe - Sound: BFXR - Whatever else takes our fancy

I have to work Monday :( so I'll see what we can do in two days. I was a bit disappointed with my last entry but elated with my Top 100 entry in LD38 which I produced in basically two days of 9am - 6pm.

Plan - Take it easy - Take breaks and go for walks - Eat healthy - Get a full nights sleep

Good luck everyone. Have fun and take care of yourself.
