Preparing for LD41 this weekend!

..or at least, how can I search for a specific user name in order to ASSEMBLE MY GAME JAM TEAM muahahaha
Yay! It's ten o'clock in the morning here in Germany and our team just decided over the basic gameplay during breakfast! LET IT BEGIN
After half an hour working, we "accomplished" the following things: - set up Git project folder - created Godot project - speed-draw main character and a few requisites for the game
The working title for our game is "Fat Cat Adventures".

Just finished this super drafty jumping animation for our hero cat; while my husband and team colleague is working on the basic interaction featues!

Whilst we are sitting here around our computers, biting our keyboards and totally regretting not having looked at a single Godot tutorial before starting this game jam: Please enjoy this still life "fat cat and cactus".
*'Fat Cat Adventure' is a Point and Click Jump'n'Run! *

Day 2, we slept in and had restless dreams about 1) collaboration/Git merging complications with Godot (WARGH! What we doing wrong?! Anybody else having issues with this?) and 2) this one specific super simple feature that turned out way more complicated then we thought.
The mood lightened up when we decided to put aside our programming manners and switch to "quick and dirty"; to simplify the implementation about this one specific simple-yet-brain-knot-feature of our game.
Here's a teaser for our game 'Fat Cat Adventures'! It's about a cat that finds her way to her food bowl!

Only one day left, or 3-4 hours to be precise, since we both have to go to work tomorrow. To get a playable game with working core mechanics, we decided to shorten the level and cut down on interaction options.
So, here's a small preview of our game "Fat Cat Adventure"!

We just published Fat Cat Adventure, a Jump'n'Run Point'n'Click game! Unfortunately, we couldn't complete it in time and labeled it as "unfinished" since the ending is not implemented yet.

This is my third Ludum Dare participation, this time we participated in a team of two. Here is my summary on LD41:
All in all, it was a great experience and I'm blown away by all the great games that were created at this LD41! We had lot of fun and we learned a lot. I'm really looking foreward trying out all the games!

Crazy idea: We're switching roles. The programmer does all the art and the artist does all the programming. Let's see how this works out! 🤪 (It's 10 in the morning here in Germany)
We just realized that we're actually building a simulator. A quite stressful simulator. I think there is even something pedagogically valuable about it. CASHIER SIMULATOR 2019!
This Ludum Dare, we're switching roles. The programmer @marcari does all the art and the artist @fraukauz (me) does all the programming. Which, so far, lead to this: (Programming update following soon)

We would like to officially propose the category "most unusual implementation technology" and apply at the same time.
We're using Microsoft WPF.
Anyone else want to apply? 🤣
Yep, it's a cashier simulator. You are a passionate cashier and currency connoisseur. You love currencies. You can put together change in your sleep. CURRENCIES ARE YOUR LIFE.
It's supposed to be a hectic game and we still didn't add any "hectic" music yet. Can anyone recommend a source of background melodies and sound effects?

We're quite proud that we even accomplished to create some really basic sound effects. Here's a photo of our sound recording studio:

We finally uploaded our game Cashier Simulator. In the past few ours, we did some polishing, fixed some bugs and did a lot of testing. We are tired but satisfied and we are looking forward to playing all your games tomorrow!
So feel free to try our game, we are looking forward to your feedback!

It made sense to me that it may take more than a screenshot to demonstrate a game. (Supreme goal, of course, to be self-explanatory ... whoops 😅). So I added a description of the gameplay!
Check it out: Cashier Simulator

... (Friday evening) and are excited to see what we will achieve in the coming hours.
After our last game (the Cashier Simulator) was unfortunately more work than fun (both for the developer and the player, but especially for the player), we agreed to do less experiments this time. This time we chose a more common gameplay that might already look familiar to some of you. We also use a technology that is also meant for game development (Game Maker Studio 2) and try a space retro pixel look. So far we’re having a lot of fun and we’re very curious to see what else this Game Jam will bring to light!
Here’s a sneak peak of our work so far:

... and is's really the most obvious title ever. Other rejected ideas: - Asteroid miner - Space Digger - I dig you (rejected because we didn't have enough time for adding a romantic athmosphere or storyline) - ...
And "Dig and Kick" (Credits to Kerstin!), but since the gameplay doesn't include any kicking...
Check Out "Deep down the Asteroid" here, we appreciate your feedback and we will return feedback on your game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/deeper-and-deeper-9
How did you feel about naming your game?
We finished our game last night at the last minute! Since then we haven't found the time to promote it officially. So, here it comes:
*Here is our game! Go play it!! * https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/deeper-and-deeper-9
We are very excited about your feedback!

It's about an astronaut who has to take soil samples deep inside an asteroid and then find a mysterious artifact (a portal?).
Dig deeper and deeper down, but think carefully, because you can't go back up, and before you know it, you'll miss more of those promising soil samples.
Or you'll be sharing a cozy narrow passage with several aliens. Oh and, yes, there are dangerous aliens.
