LD 41

Managed to get some work done

This is not my first LD, but it's the first on this new website.

I'm participating alone as a jammer and I'm taking pretty much all of the art assets from the Unity Asset Store page. I'll make sure to withdraw from the graphics category consideration.

Damn, what a hard theme! At first I struggled A LOT with it. I thought only of game genres, so it was really hard to come up with a fun idea. After reading some posts from the community someone pointed out that genre could also be from movies, novels and music. This totally helped me out! So if you're still struggling with the theme, check these other sources.

It's not unprecedented, but I mixed up Western and Sci-Fi. I know there's a movie called "cowboys & aliens" and even though I'm a horror fan I still manage to keep a distance from horrible movies. I'm still on the fence about 1st or 3rd person shooter.

It took me this long to figure out what to do, search for the assets and put them in a scene. I think I'll take a break now and continue after a nap.

Yeah, I know the logo looks TOTALLY lame. Maybe I'll use Text Mesh Pro to spice it up. Have a good one!

Got some more work done

So this is the Western Sci-fi Rail Shooter I'm working on. Hopefully a friend is gonna pitch in with some music. Today I spent much less time working on the game, but still it's shaping up nicely.

I need a name for the game and I'm taking suggestions!

Still a lot of stuff to do: - Camera tilt when mouse near edges - Enemies - Instantiation at given points - All enemies must be killed before proceeding - Enemy damage - Enemy hit - Enemy death - Damage effect on screen - Ricochet - Particle - Sound bug: volume is not lower on far distances - Game over screen - Reload same scene - Credits screen - List of all assets and third-party sources - Big boss

Unexpected but not unprecedented, my game is taking a turn to the psychedelic. Special thanks to @jonathan-lorenz for shedding light upon the matter!

It's done!

So this is my 3rd LD. This time around I decided not to surrender to sleep deprivation and take it easy. I spent around 15 hours working on this project.

I got all art assets from Unity Asset Store so I opted-out of the Graphics category. Also, I don't believe this is a humorous game, so I opted-out of Humor as well. I spent a shitload of time working on the Mood though. Hope you like it!

Oh yeah, I have a friend who made the soundtrack so the game's still up for the Audio category.

Enjoy! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/a-fistful-of-shrooms

PS: Heads-up to @jonathan-lorenz who was looking forward to this :) Thanks for the encouragement!

So this is my entry for LD41: a psychedelic western rail shooter. I made it alone except for the art (which was gotten at Unity Asset Store) and the music (a musician friend of mine chipped in on sunday night).
