Short game live rating stream, come submit your own

Head over to https://www.twitch.tv/grizeldi and add your game to the queue with !q join [url] command. I'm on linux, so a linux or web version is preferred, but windows versions usually work just fine as well.

Devblog and post mortem of our game released

I summed up my LD47 experience and added a post mortem in a video. If you want some insight in how our team worked, check it out  https://youtu.be/CRzWVoSyekc

Office finally set up

2 desktops, 4 laptops, 1 steam deck, tons of cables, 1 negative covid test, 2 hours and a couple forgotten items later, our temporary office is finally set up. It's a bit of a mess, but should hopefully get us through the weekend.

The visibility is getting kinda bad...

Peek 2022-10-01 17-56.gif

Since one of our main mechanics is low visibility due to rain and broken wipers that only work once every 10 seconds, spending the entirety of the first day working on the windshield shader is kinda justified, riiiiight?

The only thing left is to make the wiper actually push the raindrops away, but that will have to wait until our 3D artist actually makes the said wiper.

What is the current twitch tag/category for LD?

Haven't been in a LD in a while and I'm wondering what's currently the correct tag or category to use on twitch to find LD content? I remember there being some changes a while back and am now not sure.

Ready to Steal an UFO?

Cops won't be happy, but I heard there are some unsupervised UFOs in area LD51. Check out our game page to find out how you can get one of your own  https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/we-stole-aliens

Ready to go

AirB&B for an impromptu office? Arranged.

Computers and other tech? Packed.

Cables? At the location.

Food for 3 days? A problem for tomorrow.

Transport to the location? Planned out.

University deadlines? Moved.

A new junior 3D artist? Recruited.

Local gitea server? Working.

Godot 4 beta 10? Installed.

~~Hotel? Trivago.~~

Since my team tried an in person jam during the last Ludum Dare, I don't think we're going back to remote ones. Even though it adds a huge planning overhead with the logistics. We got a new rookie member this time around and overall some people that were always there are missing, but I think we still have what it takes to make a game over the weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing what you all make!

Day 1? 2? ending and we got the basic mechanics going

First Exported Test Results Are In!

After a lot of debugging why the builds exported from Godot don't work at all, the first results of performance testing are in.

:drum: drum roll :drum:

We are reaching an amazing 5FPS on an integrated intel GPU. Anything with a dedicated GPU seems to run fine though. Anyone knows why 3D games in Godot almost never work at a playable framerate on integrated GPUs? Our graphics really shouldn't be that intensive... Screenshot from 2023-01-08 21-46-42.png

Honest Feedback

Tired of overly positive comments? Might want to stop by my stream and submit your game for rating then, I'm trying to be as honest as possible in my feedback  https://www.twitch.tv/grizeldi

Bored of delivering all the packages yourself?

Rawnhill post is hiring for the dispatcher position. Your job will be to coordinate their delivery trucks. Step in the shoes of a courier service dispatcher and work around the winding one way roads, construction sites and other road rage inducing annoyances of Rawnhill in this turn based puzzle game.

Is it time to complain about themes yet?

I can't help but notice that most themes that made it into the final voting round are abstract concepts that can't easily be translated into a game mechanic in a way that makes sense. As someone who isn't that creative, I can't say I'm a fan.

Day 1 Progress

A lot of time today was spent figuring out what do we even want to do and we ended up going with a bus management game. So far we got a system for seating passengers going and plenty of boilerplate code for interactions between various passengers. It somehow feels like we did a lot less than we should have in day one, but that's probably just my conscience speaking due to all the hours we spent having a LAN party of CS2 instead of developing the game...
