Restarting

First I wanted to create a game based on Small-world Networks. After 3-4 hours I had a prototype that showed me that it was no fun to play at all . Thus I've ditched the idea and started working on a 1-screen game on a floating island.

Finally got a game-play idea.

After ditching my first idea and not knowing what to do with the stuff I've created to far I finally got an idea. Basically a farming simulator on a floating island .

Current Status

Core Mechanics Done!

Core mechanics are in place. Next: adding sound effects and music and finding a goal to achieve. Afterwards polishing and adding as many additional features as possible. gif.gif

Progress

Got a lot of polishing done and all the required game-play is in place. Added sound effects and music and some details, such as a completely meaningless day/night cycle. The game is an a publishable state and I'm happy with it . At the moment I'm too lazy to add additional features as it would involve a lot of refactoring  and feel like publishing to get it over with. On the other hand tomorrow I still have a whole day left to think about improvement.

If I hadn't used sound assets and the Godot Engine I would submit the game now to Compo.

Published Little Sky Farm

I did it! Finished my first Ludum Dare and it feels good . Sadly the HTML export of the game does not work when uploading to itch.io.

Play it here

Story

You want to go the final step with your loved one but damn it is expensive. Living on a small floating island there isn't much to earn money with, but you have to find a way before it is too late. Farm the little land you have to rack up the money you need.

Game Mechanics

The worth of objects changes with time. Most objects get more valuable over time, but only to a certain point. Once they exceeded this point the value deteriorates until they are completely worthless. It is your job to find out how long processes have to run for an optimal outcome. This requires keen observation and managing your time between different tasks.

Weird Ratings Info!?

Should this concern me, or is it like that for everyone else?
