LD25

LD25, here I come!

I’m so pumped about this! I got my drinks, snacks, energy, and I made a NEW website just because of this!

Here is some pictures and links for the oncoming event!

Website: http://ld.hhcraft.info/

Livestream: http://ld.hhcraft.info/livestream/

My sidekicks:
Set of mobile devices to test some games (iOS and Android)
TI-calcs
Snacks
Mini-fridge full of drinks
1 Gun (Just in case of zombies, we wouldn’t want to delay our development just because of zombie apocalypse!)
3 Desktops (1 for development, 2 for testing on)
1 Pug(To keep me company)

The 3 monitors is hooked up to 1 Desktop. I have separate monitors for the other 2 desktops (and separate peripherals)
My mini-fridge is stocked up with Mountain Dew, Pepsi Cherry (I would rather have Coke Cherry) and Rockstars (I would get monster but Rockstar was on sale and I need a lot for LD25)

Eco Terrorist: Published and Entered

So, Level 1 took a VERY VERY long time. But it was well worth it. Still working on Level 2 and I hope I get all the features done before the deadline. Even better yet, I hope we start on Level 3. Here is some pictures and link to the game

The game is cross-platform! (HTML5)

Eco Terrorist: Results

After 3 days of developing (only had 9 hours of sleep). We finished level 1 and started working on level 2 but sadly, level 2 isn’t ready (but we did put in a secret WIP preview in the latest and final LD build).

What I learned from this Jam: I should have just used placeholders for the graphics so I can work on the features more. I just realized that while I was working on level 2

I have A LOT of cans on my desk. Need dem sugar to keep me running. Things really started to heat up Heater

Here is some pretty pictures. I hope it’s not too CRAPPY Toilet lolz

I never could find the easter egg. I even tried three times to find it. It’s kind of ironic that massive 3-monitor system being used to make a game about conserving power and being environmentally friendly. :p

Entering LD26 first time solo

Wellll, technically this is my 2nd time (1st time with a team) but I decided to go solo.

I’m going to try compo and if I see that I don’t have enough time then I’ll be entering Jam.

Awesome tools:
FL Studio – To make awesome music and sfx

GameMaker Studio (with HTML/Android): Awesome developing software for easy multi-platform exports

Photoshop/flash: To make backgrounds and sprites

LD27

Alrighty! Lets go!

This is my 4th time doing Ludum dare but this time, I’ll be doing solo for the first time! Already 2 hours in and I already got a great idea!

No sleep last night. Got lots of great ideas.

Instead of diving straight into the game engine. I wanted to experiment and wanted to finish the intro animations first. Took a few hours to brainstorm some ideas and so very, I think everything will be rock solid.

Progress picture time!

note: You should notice the COMPO and JAM fused together in there. That is just in case I go over the 2 day limit.

Cojampo and eggs. Looks like this could be fun! :)

A good quick way to do 8-bit sounding sfx

A good way to make fast 8-bit sounding sfx without  having to mess with those confusing settings from the 8-bit sfx generator. All you need is a mic, a sound software (Audacity, FL Studio, anything that can load a VST plugin), and bitcrusher! (VST plugin).

VST Link: http://freemusicsoftware.org/722

Set bit-depth to 8 bits

Set Downsampling to 10 for best results (You can experiment with it if you want!)

Here is an example of what you can do with it.

[if lt IE 9]>document.createElement('audio');

What I used this time:
GameMaker Studio (HTML5 + Android modules)
FL Studio
Photoshop

What I learned this time:
I wanted to try something different. So I thought, why not do the graphics first? It was a bad idea because I couldn’t implement all the graphics in at once and ended up with wasted graphics. It really dragged me down with the programming too.

What I will do next time:
Programming is the priority. Going to use placeholders until all the programming is done. I just wanted to try graphics first, it was a disaster. I also wanted to do music but I always don’t have time for that >.<

Results:
IMO I didn’t like how I executed the idea. I want to make a FULL version in the near future that is much better than this version

Just finished porting to HTML5 and Android!
Sorry Apple users! I don’t have a mac to export with. Maybe I’ll get around to install a hackintosh for exporting to iOS and MacOS 😉

Good news everyone! I might be making a full version of the game! But with a better storyline (pfft, what storyline?) and level designs!

LD28

I’m Ready! I’m Ready!

I’ll be developing for the PC first. THEN I’ll port over to the web, Android, and OUYA.

IF, only IF I have a good idea for this time. The OUYA will be having a special multiplayer edition if multiplayer would be a good idea for whatever I make this time.

I’m almost ready! I need a nap first

Was playing Amazing Frog for a good amount of time. Now I’m ready for LD27!

Tools:

Into the Couch We Go

I don’t know why I wasted my time just doing graphics. After I do some quick character designs and environment graphics. I’ll be programming quick enough for Compo. I haven’t slept yet!

Into the Couch We Go

A game about a couch!

Halfway through this LD, I was worried that the game would be a disaster but after I implemented gameplay and better graphics. I got hooked on it trying to beat of my levels to see if it was possible to beat…

Anyways, I PRESENT: Into the Couch We Go

Making an update for the game

I’ve been working on music and sfx for the game. Fixing bugs too so it’s more enjoyable. SO far, I made a song for the game “Into the Couch We Go”

I spent around a total of 8 hours on this game. I was wanting to develop but at the same time, I had work. On the last day, I decided to go full steam ahead.

game itself
The concept of the game actually have nothing to do with DickButt. I vowed to put DickButt in my next LudumDare game so here we are. A game featuring DickButt. Game: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=18514 Gameplay isn’t the greatest in the world though. but here’s a better game I made which is frustratingly fun! http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-29/?action=preview&uid=18514. My concept is that an asset in the game isn’t part of the game until it’s on the screen (window of the game).

example of animation
Animation is a bit crude but I was on a deadline that was going to be reached in 12 hours. I did all my artwork last and my sound event laster.

More examples
Here’s the animation from the game. I also separated them so anyone else can use these <3 These dickbutts are dickbuttless because the you have to go get the dick in the game.
