HELLO23

LD26

We’re in for the Ludum Dare Jam!

It will be our first Ludum Dare !

Our game will be played in the Console window (that DOS command prompt… but with colors !)

Code: We’re going to use C#, using Visual studio Express (2010 or 2012), and maybe MonoDevelop for a Linux port (If my library works on Linux).

Library: We’re going to use a library that I wrote, called ConsoleEngine (download if you want), which make it easier for us to draw the graphics to the Console screen.

Graphics: Console ><  (Probably going to use some random websites for ASCII art)

Music & Sounds: We’re still thinking about it. If we won’t find a better program, we’ll use iNudge.net.

Timelapse: Maybe (I will record but we’ll see how it goes,  and if it will be worth uploading)

Gonna be interesting !

Good Luck everyone !!!

I’m IN for the Competition !

It will be my first Ludum Dare !

As opposed to what I wrote a couple of days ago, I have decided to run for the competition instead of the jam.

My game will be played in the Console window (with colors !),  and will be running both on Windows and Linux !

Code: I’m going to use C#, using MonoDevelop (Xamarin Studio), so that the game will work on both Linux and Windows.

Library: I’m going to use a library that I wrote, called ConsoleEngine (download if you want), which make it easier for me to draw the graphics to the Console screen.

Graphics: Console…     (going to use Paint.Net though)

Music & Sounds: I’m gonna use iNudge.net to crate the sounds.

Timelapse: I will record but I’ll see how it goes,  and if it will be worth uploading.

Gonna be interesting 48 hours !

Enjoy making games everyone :)

The Time Saver – Finished !

My Console/Terminal game , The Time Saver, for Windows and Linux (using Mono) has very simple graphics (the blocks of the terminal/console screen), and comes with simple audio (windows only).

These 2 days were a really good learning experience for me, and the result is a really nice game, written in C#, playable on both Windows and Linux !

Tomorrow I will upload my time-lapse video  to YouTube, so you could see how I created the game.

Although I spent a lot of time trying to get the audio to work on Linux, I did not manage to do that :(

BTW I saw this post about the added glory (windows entry, source weighs less than 4MB…. – my entry+source weights 357KB !), and I could not figure out where to submit my game there. Anybody knows ?

Some games I really liked

I’m In !

Not much to say. It is gonna be my second Ludum Dare Compo.

This time I am gonna use :

  • Language : Java
  • IDE : Eclipse
  • Library : LibGDX + Artemis Entity System (and some base code I wrote)
  • Graphics : Probably only Paint.Net, maybe I’ll use Aether Resource Editor for animation.
  • Level Editing (in case my idea requires one) : Tiled
  • Sounds : I am not really familiar with any tools for sounds, and I would really appreciate if you comment here with a recommendation.

Have fun !
