Ludum Dare 45

I'm in...

My suggestions for this round: suggestions.PNG

Made it...

I managed to publish a Windows build before the deadline ended!!

Yay me!

Now will try to publish more builds (HTML5 / Mac / Linux), and add some screenshots...

Web build available...

Yay! I managed to make the HTML5 build work (for me).

The trick turned out to be enableing it to autodetect Graphics API...

And lighting (which even in downloadable bits is not working properly) has gone away... Well... guess this is a good opportunity to figure out how to make it work...

Ludum Dare 48

Slow progress

Day 2 is in full swing, and I have only now pushed the game primary mechanic to somewhat satisfactory state.

The Marching cubes once again turned out to be pretty performance heavy. Half of yesterday and the whole of today were spent on trying to get performance off the ground.

Now I have the decent volume tracking around character, while maintainig 30fps. The lag between the action and the hole actually appearing as also noticable but not terrible, and probably can be somewhat masked with particle effects if I get to add some.

Anyway - now to add secondary mechanics, and to actually design a level. Going to be a cmall one for sure. :(

Visual assets quality: Er... nothing to be ashamed of.

Not the best Blender artist to begin with. Plus I only worked in 2.79 previously so all the UI is new to me. Still looks decent. Now figure out how to texture it...

Wow...

I am mostly done with the game.

If you know the controls - it is playable, and for the first playthrough fun... I hope.

Now I need to implement the tutorial... Though my idea for it is... ambitious. It will be tha first time I am implementing tutorial as part of gameplay.

I am amazed...

3 hours to go, and I am alredy making builds of "Search and Resque" for multiple platforms.

Managed to put in all the realistic features. Sure there is still room for improvement and polish, but I don't see anything I can implement quickly. So better pack and build while there is still time.

I will try to build a WebGL version as well, but chanes are - I will not link it as possible build. The game kind of hard on CPU and I am not sure WebGL will chew through it.

Anyway, I am super stoket to have finished a game after this long of a hiatus!

This thing is beautiful.

Sometimes during GameJams you get the games that are on a different level. And this time I have found this Gem:

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/all-the-kings-men

This game is really beautiful - not in the graphic sence or some intricate game mechanics, but the mood and feel of. It really got me emotional and I really hope it gets all the love it truly deserves.

Search and Resque passed the threshold

YAY! It is just Day 2 of rating, and my game - Search and Resque is already past the 20 ratings received threshold!

Huge thanks to everyone who played, rated and hopefully enjoyed my game. You people Rock!

If you want me to have a look at your game - feel free to leave a comment here, and I will give it a look.

Search And Resque now playable in browser.

I have made it! Search and Resque is now playable in the browser with all the mechanics - including the digable ground!

If the warning of the web experience not being representative of the whole game was what was stopping you - here is your chance.

I have deliberately not changed the other complains people had to the game in this fix, so the web experince is as close to standalon compo version as possible, so you can rate this version as you would've rated the main entry.

Also if you want me to have a look at your game - leave a link here, or leave some feedback on my game and I will surely take a look.

Reflecting on the results.

The results are in, and here are mine:

This is not much, but this does show an honest effort. Besides I have checked my rating for my previous entries (the real ones. I was in a relly bad place when I made my previous entry, so I would really like to pretend it never existed.), and across the board all the ratings show a steady increase. Like every next game got a +0.1 to Overall and Fun ratings compared to the previous one.

Considering all this - I am really content with the results I got.

I hope you also had fun, and looking forward to taking part in the next event!
