Ludum Dare 52

Come around everyone and jam with this cool harvester!

Harvest all the apples in the village!!! …or spare some for the folk.

This one is an uplifting platformer game where you mojo away and harvest apples while jamming with the vibes.

Cheat: if you fail to fill a bucket jump off the platform. It resets the tree’s apple spawning without restarting the game.

I have experimented with unity's physics 'thoroughly' for the first time. So I would really appreciate feedback and suggestions.

Oh, darn those sticking collisions...

Modeling fluffy trees in An Apple a Day

I am not comfortable with modelling organic shapes much, so when I needed fluffy trees for this project in such a limited time I fretted. But knowing max, I played around with modifiers and found a very easy way to achieve the result I wanted. There are lost of ways to achieve one result in modelling but this felt very fast and easy to me.

I just wanted to share the process. In very brief, it is a process of adding and re-adding retopology and openSubdiv modifiers one after the other.

In details:

  • Started with primitive sphere shapes.
  • Joined them using pro-boolean under compound objects tab in modifiers; which resulted in terrible topology.
  • Now, that is the part where I discovered how to model these trees using retopology modifier.
  • Adding retopology modifier cleaned up the topology but also increased the polygon count.
  • To decrease the polygon count, I added a second retopology layer using either the QuadriFlow or InstantMesh option with a lower polygon count.
  • This created low poly version but unfortunately with quite sharp edges. To smooth it out, I added the OpenSubdiv modifier.
  • To decrease the polygon count further, once again I repeated the retopology process using the reForm option.
  • Voila! There we have the fluffy trees.

Ludum Dare 57

Fifty Floors of Flavor: A Game Made with Love (and Pizza)

For this Ludum Dare, we had a unique approach—24 hours, lots of laughs, and a game that’s more about fun than challenge. Fifty Floors of Flavor is a quirky game about choosing dinner—pizza, ramen, tacos, you name it—while dealing with the endless question: “What do you want to eat?”

Inspired by the theme “Depths,” we took a lighthearted spin and dove into the depths of food choices. It was less of a hardcore challenge and more of a date night project, but we learned a lot and had a blast working together.

If you want a laugh, check it out and see if you can survive the endless dinner dilemmas. 🍕
