We’re In!!!

Hi,

Ion Programming will compete in their first LD Jam this time.

We (Lucas & Sam) will program it in Java using a few tools:

  • The Eclipse IDE
  • Notepad++
  • Paint.NET
  • FamiTracker
  • Ableton Live
  • Multiple Free VST’s
  • Any other tools we decide to use at the last minute.

We hope to do good and we hope to live-stream parts of it at http://www.twitch.tv/lucas_f98

We will also do a time lapse of the whole thing and put it on YouTube… (I’ll post the link after)

I hope everyone does well and good luck!!!

Workspace Setup and Music Time

We have started on our first LD Jam and thought we would make some music for our game…

We have a good idea for our game and should start coding soon…

Our jam entry is going well… We are making a universe evolution game.

Once the map loader is finished we will upload a beta for you to play…

Ludum Dare game looking good.

Our game is going well, engine, music, map loader and entity management are complete…

Just need to design some level design.

Have a look at it:

LD25

We’re In!

Well, since everyone else is writing about it, I guess I will too.

This time 2 of Ion Programming’s members will represent the team (of 3, lol) and enter LD25! Since our first entry didn’t go so well (didn’t finish level design…), we thought we would have another crack at a Ludum Dare jam.

We will enter the jam using:

  • Java
  • Eclipse IDE
  • Paint.NET
  • Ableton Live
  • Multiple Free VST’s
We wont use any libraries, we will code all of the game by hand…

We might live-stream parts of it at Twitch TV

Good luck all!!!

Our Setup

This is what we will be using to make our game…

(We won’t actually use the laptops all the time… just for OS compatibility testing)

Well… people complained about last times entry being slow…

“Bandits” is still underway…

Chinaman

We are gradually making progress with our game. The most recent release is uploaded so you can try it out. (same link as before)

Well, it isn’t exactly finished.

Sadly, due to some very pesky algorithms, we weren’t able to complete out game “Bandits”.

But, we did submit it, all you can really do is walk around and explore villages and things though.

Still on our todo list for the game was:

  • Being able to kill people.
  • Music / sound
  • +1 goat
  • make the game winnable

So go and play it, and have a look.

Android Games – We made some!

With the up-rise of smartphones, a humongous market for game development has opened up.

The team here at Ion Programming has decided to catch up with the times and move into the area of Android game development.

So far we have made two basic games which are worth a look.

Space Dodger

Dodge the asteroids and space junk as you pilot your rocket through the vast expanse of space, earning points and leveling up as you go.

Space dodger can be found here.

How Do I Simply?

This perplexing puzzle game will have you busy for hours. The aim is to change all of the tiles to red. Sound easy? You sure? I don’t think so.

We’re in!

Hey Everyone,

we'rein

(guess the code??)

We’re in again for our 4th #LD…

We’ll be entering the jam but only have about 30 hrs of time as school gets in the way, so don’t expect anything massive….

Despite our lack of time, we plan to make a decent game and complete it.
Our main focus this time will be music as we feel we have a good chance in that category.

Our tool-belt contains:

– Java (no libraries)
– Eclipse
– Paint.NET
– SFXR (possibly for SFX)
– Ableton Live (with open source VSTs)

We will also be using our Continuous Integration server again to pull from git, build and upload every hour or so…

You’re a wizard Harry!

You’re not,  actually. That’s just a place holder…

Stars are all the go

Game is going well… Its called “The Compass”

Here’s the story:

You start out in a jungle not remembering anything, who you are, where you are, why you are here…
You find a GPS on the ground next to you, it has coordinates in it.

Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to follow the GPS in aid of finding clues as to why you are where you are. (when there is a story :P)

You can have a play here: http://ionprogramming.com/LD48/LD27/ (win only ATM)

The graphics are all quick placeholders and will change soon. We aim to meet the theme by swapping between 10 second loops of music which will affect how the enemy’s move
