Always wanted to participate in a gamejam, but I always chicken out in the last minute. This time I will try to stick to my guns and create something.

I'm using Gamemaker Studio 2, Photoshop, Aseprite, Magix Music Maker and Audacity.

Thanks to the different timezones, I was sleeping my sweatest dreams, when LD started. But I'm awake now, had my delicious breakfast and I can start working. I already figured out an idea for the theme, so that's progress. Good luck everyone!

I think that's it for me for the first day. Did a lot of coding today, basically implemented every game mechanics I wanted. Art is placeholder, but you can take a peek if you want. :) Tomorrow is art creation, then I build the full level.

Sigh, since I'm not an artist, creating the sprites are always the most stressful part of my gamedev journey. This Ludum Dare is no different. Buy I'm getting there and creating them nice and slowly.

I've been drawing all day, and I managed to finished the sprites for the game. I'm happy with the street tile, the buildings and the GUI elements, but the characters are awful. But that's as far as I can go regarding characters pixelart.

I didn't have too much time balancing the game, so it might have ended up on the easy side a bit, but you be the judge on that. What's your best time?

I don't know how many participants were in this jam, but I'm pretty satisfied with myself. Getting 2.8 stars in average is not bad. And next time, I will try to improve. Thanks for everybody who voted for the game.

I keep forgeting and forgeting about LD Jam, but this time, I set up a notification on my phone! I - WILL - PARTICIPATE!!!!! And nobody can stop me in this!

Each time LD is flooded with posts which complain about the themes being bad. I don't really see the problem, I think there are always a few good ones. Of coures this is all subjective, but come on, these are not bad. If you are creative you can make pretty interesting games with these themes.

Just woke up, and the first thing I did was to check the theme. Keep it alive. Not bad, I immediately had a few ideas I will explore. Let the jamming begin!

I've got the main concept locked down, wrote a lot of design notes (with terrible handwriting). Now loading up Gamemaker Studio 2.

I have set up a basic inventory system. I thought I will progress faster, but I have been bogged down with coding.

Well, "finished" is an overstatement. I ran out of time, and I really have to go to bed, because in a few hours I must go to work. So I really rushed the development of Garden Royale, but I finished it, and I'm proud of it, even in this state. I hope you guys and gals will enjoy it.
