BUM BAG BANGIN'

So this was my first Ludum Dare, and it actually blew my mind away how fun it is, and how cool the community is. I'm normally a solo dev but my jam is art, so it was awesome to be able to focus on that 100%

Here are some gifs from the game. Also here is a link if you would like to play, I super look forward to now relaxing and checking everyones game out! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/bum-bag-bangin

Art Process

For the artsyle for our game BUM BAG BANGIN I wanted to develop on a style that I've played around before just visually.

I really loved this art style and pitched it to the team of something I'd like to do. But after some discussion it would be a bit of a nightmare to do gameplay in an isometric perspective. So someone suggested the Pokemon type perspective so I smashed out this drawing.

Then eventually developed it to this once we decided thats what we were going for.

This style was definitely outside of my comfort zone as its a little more difficult to make it feel like it has depth.

Eventually it came together to look like this, bumgifsmal2l.gif

Our coder set it up with 2.5d which made it feel a little more dynamic and gave it some more depth. I wish we had some more time to play with it, but I was definitely chuffed to see it in-game in all its glory. I'd definitely like to try this style in a more RPG type game.

Check out the game if you want to give it a whirl. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/bum-bag-bangin
