A common advice for game jams is to keep it simple, reduce your idea to one game mechanic and focus
on that mechanic until it feels good, and only then can you start adding more features.
But sometimes you fail to take the advice to heart... We did...
Our idea was too big and we didn't realize it until it was too late. We had a whole line-up of features planned that all had to be implemented in order for our core game loop to work, and we had to start cutting features mid-jam to fit in the time schedule.
We have learned our lesson. For the next jam we'll make sure to take a step back and start cutting features early and aggressively...
Even though it's lacking some of the features we had planned and feels less like the game we had envisioned I'm still happy and proud of the end result: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/doug-deep
