Ludum Dare 47

Goop Loop!

Splortch! Finally decided to enter Ludum Dare! This is my second game jam ever (though I've worked on a number of games). Lots of squishy splatty sounds. This one has some pretty unique physics controls that take a bit to get used to, but in time you can really get moving with them. Had a late start and worked 20 hours straight. goop-loop-example3.gif https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/goop-loop

Goop Loop: Behind The Scenes!

I tried to compile all the interesting/relevant parts of Goop Loop's development here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWtu-_wEPcM (Am I doing clickbait thumbnails correctly?)

The full 20+ hour stream is available here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/762156354

Goop Loop: Streamer Reactions

People's reactions were way better than I expected. Watch and have a laugh (audio required):

Goop Loop is coming to Steam!

Some people really enjoyed the game and wanted me to make a larger version, so I'm doing just that!

Jump over to the Steam page and add it to your wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1454550/Goop_Loop/

If you haven't checked it out yet, you can play the Ludum Dare version and throw out some suggestions: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/goop-loop

Goop Loop Released on Steam in Early Access!

ldemgooploop/empreview3.gif

Several people wanted to see an extended version of Goop Loop, so here it is! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1454550/Goop_Loop/

It features improved art, an extended level, more voice lines, etc., and will continue to have content added to it, as it's just early access right now. The premise is simple: You're a goop stuck in a loop. All you can do is jump and stick (with a bit of air acceleration). Physics does the rest. Can you make to top? Or will you flop and plop?

Goop Loop Improvements since last Ludum Dare

Last Ludum Dare, I made a game called Goop Loop, which looked like this during the jam:

gooploopemscreenshot/em20201020em203642/em0.jpg

Since then, I've spent a few months iterating on the assets, extending the level, adding new content, more puns, and lots of other stuff, and now it looks like this:

gooploopemscreenshot/em20210421em073250/em0_clouds.jpg

It's out on Steam in early access and is just about to move on to a full release, so I'm ready to start a new project this Ludum Dare. Hoping to make something else that's really fun!

Soaring Under?

previewshot1.png

Making good headway on my low-poly style wingsuit cave explorer game using the Godot engine. Tentative title: Soaring Under. Feel free to stop by and follow along at https://twitch.tv/jitspoe

Soaring Under: Dive into some beautiful, low-poly caves!

large cave dive.gif I'm really happy with how much I was able to put together in just 48 hours, and I wanted to test the new Godot Engine 3.3 features, since it was JUST released, so I was able to create some beautiful low-poly caves and scenery with the new lightmap baker. Be sure to play with sound enabled!

Soaring Under is my second Ludum Dare entry. I extended my previous entry, Goop Loop, and put it up on Steam if you'd like to check that out as well: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1454550/Goop_Loop/

Soaring Under - HTML5 Version Live!

red_canyon.gif

A file was too large for itch.io, so I had to upload the web build to my own server. It's > 200 megs, so downloading the game is still probably better, but the HTML5 version is there in case anybody can't or doesn't want to download the game to play!

Soaring Under Collectables

pickups.gif

Soaring Under has orbs you can pickup as an extra challenge, and they can be REALLY difficult to grab. "Your teammate" on discord sent me this video of collecting 14 in a single run!

I've only gotten like half that. Anybody think they can top it?!

Making of Soaring Under, Part 1: Ludum Donkay

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt2zly-9BYY

I've compiled some highlights of my development stream to hopefully give some practical insight on my development process, including some nice Blender tricks for quickly making low-poly style meshes. Oh, and donkey sounds.

Making of Soaring Under, Part 2

Part 2 of the development process, which covers jumping, acceleration, the start of wingsuit physics, and some sound design (splat!) is up here:

Making of Soaring Under, Part 3!

Here's Part 3 of me compressing hours of development down into a few minutes so you can see the chaos behind the making of Soaring Under and realize those crazy things DON'T only happen to you. Like when I ran out of memory baking lightmaps here!

The rest of the parts are listed on the game page: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/soaring-under

Another Making Of Soaring Under! (Part 4)

Smashing! Part 4 covers a bit more of the music, the piano smashes on impact and some other stuff:

Making of Soaring Under Part 5 (Deep Cave & Nice Hat)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7mN691gIi0 https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x81awwz

See how I iterated on the flight physics in Godot, modeled caves and rocks in Blender, and put on a fancy hat.

Goop Loop Rolls Out of Early Access

Goop Loop, the game I originally made for LD47 with the theme "Stuck in a loop" has been completed, with a substantial amount of new content and improvements, and is now out of early access on Steam!
