Ludum Dare 48

I'm not tired you're tired.

Nearly midnight here and I'm super jazzed about my game's progress. Created the player sprite, got physics working, and my core game mechanic built around the theme. Trying to use a twist on words and have my game progress with deeper and deeper shades of a color :) Recorded some player sounds with a plastic straw, a glass jar, and noises I made with my mouth. Aiming to submit under the Compo as a solo dev making all the resources this weekend! I've got kids so I can only really work on this after they go to bed each night.. I'm not tired you're tired. I'm done.

I finished a day(ish) early since I've got family duties the rest of the weekend. I'll be submitting under the Compo. I have a game drafted here on the site, but can't figure out how to submit/publish it... help? The game is live on: https://jottesen.itch.io/the-colorsmith LDThumbnail-06.png

My Game Was Featured!

All of the positive feedback and constructive insights on my compo game "The Colorsmith" has given me warm fuzzies :) I'm feeling pretty encouraged to build this one out in more depth! This is just a great community to be a part of.

"Randomise User: The Best Indie Games" featured my game among their top picks! https://youtu.be/225lE3dyzJ8?t=647 Feature.JPG

Let's Make This Official

I've had enough people who enjoyed my little ~2minute game (albeit from a humble 30 rankings) and encouraged me to pursue The Colorsmith further that I've decided to dig in.

So consider this a sort of informal announcement that I'll be building out a story and designing significantly more complex and engaging puzzles around the mechanics I established in my Compo version. Based on the feedback and opportunities I have for improvement, I think this game might stand a chance at some commercial success if I build it out in depth and take time to give it some extra love. I'll just have to dig deeper and deeper into this project ;)

Thank you all for your encouragement thus far! It's given me courage to take this past a 48 hour Jam game and scope it out as a full project. I've never tried to take any of my games to that next "try-to-make-money" level, so I'm naturally pretty anticipatory to see how this all pans out. In fact, any advice you could give me about moving into the commercial space with games would be VERY appreciated. Rookie in the field here.

Anyway, here's a sneak peak at my redesigned look and feel! Would love to hear your thoughts/advice.
