First game jam experience - this community is great

Coming into this game jam, I was quite apprehensive and worried about how it would go. I personally have never done more in Godot than moved a sprite and a cylinder around a flat surface and programming is supposed to be one of the strong suits I was bringing to the team.

Having to stop and look up documentation/tutorial for every small thing you're doing really makes it a challenge to get into a flow and get a lot done in a small amount of time, but thankfully the internet's free resources are vast and Godot is fairly simple and self consistent once you get the hang of it.

We made plenty of mistakes, building things we didn't end up using and having real spaghetti code mess in places. We didn't even have any gameplay loop at all until late on Sunday but it has been a great experience.

As a software dev by day, it was quite exhausting to spend the weekend sitting at my desk and working away on code, but getting such nice feedback from people has made it worth it.

Playing some of the games on the site that people made during the jam, I'm really amazed how fun, polished and complete a lot of them feel. To have these developers then come to our game and give it good feedback has been so heart-warming and we're super appreciative.

My other two team mates were absolutely fantastic as well. Pax did so much art that is ridiculously good for how quickly they managed to put it together, as well as doing some last minute MVP moves to tie all the game programming together. QG (who was equally as blind to Godot as me coming in) pulled out a whole camera transition and event system within the first few hours and was a great driving force behind making sure we were all on the same page. Thanks team.

Will definitely be participating again!
