Ludum Dare 46

First Teamwork

I will join ld46 with my friend @shaguna this time. He will create all of the art assets. I will do everything else. Hope we can finish a game at this weekend.

Recently I start to use a new tool name Pixel Game Maker MV, let's see what will it make eventually.

Ludum Dare 50

The other hidden Ending

In fact, this game has a true victory and a corresponding true ending which everyone could be alive. Could you beat everything and achieve that ending besides this one? Challenge it!

Guts could kill more than 1000 enemies!

This is my own play progress that kill 898 enemies. How about you?

To be DemonSlayer here!

I didn't reach the true ending in this video. If you could kill all the enemies and see the true ending please let me know what you have seen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roYIPuil6is

I am preparing to participate with my two friends this time

This is my first time writing a "Blog" before the LD event starts, so let me casually jot down my thoughts at this moment.

It's the first time the three of us are collaborating. I have never worked with more than one teammate in a Ludum Dare event (at most, I was in a duo). I hope our friendship won't be shattered because of this gamejam. (Friendships often end over a task that requires cooperation, don't they?) I hope this is a brand new experience, and this time I won't be responsible for the main programming work. Let's see what we can create!

Here are the tools we prepared for this event: 1. Godot v4.3 stable 2. Aseprite

Looking forward to spending another Ludum Dare weekend with everyone.

And here is my two theme suggestions: Snipasteem2024-09-22/em16-52-56.png

Simulation game + text adventure attempt

cover.png This time, compared to previous game jam experiences, I spent the shortest time in the "random brainstorming" phase and the longest time "refining the initial design document."

In previous LD processes, I would generally spend 2-4 hours completing the entire conceptualization phase. The result of the conceptualization might be incomplete, and then I would spend the remaining time quickly building the program while refining gameplay details. About half of those 2-4 hours would be spent in "random brainstorming." During this phase, I would constantly throw various ideas at myself or gameplay inspirations associated with them until I finally decided on which theme to choose, which required a considerable amount of time.

In this competition, however, I decided to create a "mercenary group simulation and development" game in about 30 minutes. This idea came up quickly, possibly related to my recent fantasy of a non-existent game where I imagined I could play anything, engage in real-time battles, and make a name for myself among kingdoms. At the time, someone pointed out that the "kingdom conquest" part of my idea might just be my imagination and would be difficult to make interesting (unless the game is very similar to "Mount & Blade"). In this competition, I decided to take this opportunity to create a "cultivate Troop" gameplay. Its goal is to build a basic cultivation framework that allows me to add storylines and, in the future, incorporate kingdom and city systems. Ultimately, it took me 10 hours to complete all the design plans and story scripts.

The progress afterward was swift, and in the end, I spent a significant amount of time playing the finished product and fixing bugs. If you're interested, you can try out this work.
