First time participant here.

Thought I was going to have to make a silent game earlier when my sound card appeared to disappear… then thought I was going to be unable to take part entirely when I dropped a screw into my (bottom mounted) PSU in the process of re-seating my sound card. But, after 20 minutes of fishing around in a sea of capacitors with a magnetic (and insulated) screwdriver, I somehow ended up with a system which still boots and has sound. Success!

I’m probably using Unity but it’s still slightly possibly I’ll switch to Python at the last moment. Other tools involved include Blender, LMMS and Paint.Net. Going to bed shortly so I can get up early tomorrow.

The game is about science and research. You can make various discoveries, all from the comfort of your lab.

I’m not sure it actually makes any sense, but I’m happier with what I completed than I had expected to be. The music is pretty dreadful, but I figured I’d give composition a go. My suggestion is that you mute it, and go listen to They Might Be Giant’s Here Comes Science album which I pretty much have been, on repeat, right through development. Go listen to it even if you don’t attempt to play the game. It is 100% awesome.

Anyway, this is my first entry to LD and I had a great time. I haven’t really done any sprite art or composition before, and while the results aren’t exactly stunning it was way less painful than I expected. And I even got a few hours sleep.

Drawing kittens is super hard.

Game is now mostly about boxes.

I don’t know what meal this is meant to be, but it’s a nice break from eating junk food.

There’s a bit of a game there, but it is probably the least fun game you have ever played. I doubt the cubes will ever be anything other than cubes, because art is *hard*.

Representing in my favourite LD48 hoodie from my horrible basement. Not my mum’s basement, mind. I’m moving up in the world.

But damn, I’m at least going to get it SLIGHTLY MORE FINISHED.

Think my Blender/Gimp abilities have finally reached the stage where it’s my limited artistic competence rather than my complete lack of understand of the software which is letting me down. Score!

There still isn’t much of a game here though. Maybe will add some “gameplay!” and “features!” before tonight.

Game is “done”. Still makes no sense. Happy with what I got done if not with the finished item.

OH! Also I made TERRIBLE music again. And this time I DID NOT PUT A MUTE OPTION IN THE GAME. Take that, everyone who has ever wronged me (everyone who voted against the kittens, that would be you).

Time to sleep so I can get up and make more games.

I wasn’t even planning to do Ludum Dare this time but then I liked the theme so now I am making a game and the game is about wasps and man I hate wasps so much and I am so angry that I even have to think about wasps. Here are some FACTS about wasps.

1. Wasps are the VILLAINS OF THE SKY and are more dangerous than OVER A BILLION helicopters. FACT.

2. IF WASPS HAD THUMBS scientists estimate the human race would be extinct within less than 4.3 minutes. FACT.

3. Wasps don’t have blood, they are fuelled solely by LIQUEFIED HATE COURSING THROUGH THEIR VEINS. FACT. Also, SCIENCE.

I hate wasps so much.
