Out… and in again

Hey guys!

This week-end has strangely been really harsh with my body. Although I slept before the start, I have been tired all the time despite sleeping 23 hours out of the 48h compo. Some things went bad with some tools I wanted to use, but deepnight saved me with his own implementation x)

I didn’t like the theme, either. Couldn’t find something I wanted to do (or could do for the graphics part).
So I gave up yesterday.

But I’m in again for the JAM (alone), making a little game today. I really can’t end up with nothing 😛

Get userid from author name?

Hi guys!

I created several months ago an application used to follow the Twinoid community on Ludum Dare (games, devblogs, etc.)

I’m currently adding features, and I’d like to give some love to “non-author” JAM participants. I’m working on allowing users to link to their LD account (and confirm by adding a word to their description for a few seconds) so that the application can start following future blog posts and games.
This last thing (future games) needs the user id to be effective. But I can’t get it automatically at the moment if the user did not post any game yet =/

I can confirm it being a particular user’s id (with /compo/?author=666), I can manually find it with media/blog post search in the dashboard, etc.

But I did not find any way of actually getting a user id from the author name automatically (or let the user find it to give it to me).
Do you guys know any way to do that?

Thanks!

Less than 11 hours to go, and the flash part of my game is already looking neat!

Inkscape & Animations

Hi there o/

I’m currently working on the post-compo version of my LD#30 game which did not receive any polish during the week-end..

I wanted to start with animations, but was kinda disappointed by the current state of Synfig Studio. I use Inkscape and it is awesome.. until you want to animate your drawings. I took a quick look at other animation software, but they either are not free, not available on linux or lack Inkscape’s ergonomics.

So I coded a small tool in Haxe to let me animate things easily in Inkscape: a preview of the current animation at the right framerate, updating itself instantly each time I save my svg file.

9th in a row o/

Hi there o/

I’m in for my 9th LD in a row :) From home this time, I hope it’ll be alright..

So we’re supposed to shake things up a little for this edition? Sure.

Language: Haxe let’s go with JavaScript, it’s been a long time (LD#25)
Libs: hmm.. I’ll give a shot at Snap.svg & SoundJS + PreloadJS (+ TweenJS if needed) from CreateJS
Graphics: Inkscape. Can’t change that one 😀
Sound: SunVox I guess
Editor: Sublime Text 3
