Memory Allocation, UI, Audio Stabilization Fixes

Hey guys and gals! We've gotten some awesome feedback so far on Flight Deck! We're happy to announce we've fixed some bugs and stabilized some game-play elements. Hopefully the game should run smoothly for everyone now!

Memory Allocation Error

This was caused with the build in Unity not allocating enough memory for the game. It worked for most people, but some browser/computer settings were causing the game to crash on start. We upped the memory allocation, so hopefully everyone should be able to run Flight Deck now!

Audio Levels

Some of the card sound effects and weather tracks were scaled pretty poorly. We've balanced these out, so all audio should be normalized and fit well together.

UI Adjustments

We had some feedback that the UI was arranged in a way that caused some confusion regarding the gameplay. We still have quite a few ideas on reworking a lot of the UI in the future, but for now we've shifted around some of the UI elements so it should be more clear what's going on throughout the game. Let us know what you think!

Thanks for all the support and keep the feedback coming!

On a serious note, we'd love for you to check out our game.

After Ludum Dare 41, our group had tossed around the idea of trying a serious topic for our next this game. When the theme for LD42 was announced, we brainstormed for hours, finally deciding on "running out of space in your mind," which we felt was a good, yet simplified description of dementia.

We decided on a graphic novel, trying to focus on an overall experience that would accurately portray the effects of Alzheimer's on a family. We researched the horrible diseases that cause dementia and drew from our own group's experiences. Throughout our development cycle, we worked with the cousin of one of team members, who had worked as a nurse and spent a lot of time with dementia patients.

We felt this game would be very high risk/high reward, with a pretty heavy burden to "get it right." We believe we were able to meet the challenge, and present our game in a way that is accurate, moving, and an overall unique experience.

@carystringfield did an absolutely amazing job on the art, @mister-kweh somehow managed to write five unique and immersive songs that fit perfectly with the mood, @sbx5 created the animations and effects that really brought the scenes to life, and @kovakomes programmed the entire game, tying our pieces together and presenting the story in an incredible framework.

I wrote the story, and I really am blessed to have such an amazing group to work with.

I really hope you can feel the passion and emotion we were trying to accomplish with our game.

Some reviews we've received so far (thank you to everyone who has played our game):

"Oh cool now I’m sad."

"Wow. Absolutely shed a tear for me. Couldn’t help it."

"...this was so emotional and raw"

"This game totally slayed me!"

"I cried SOOOOOOO MUCHHHHHH"

"That was heartbreaking to go through. That’s all I can say, really"

"Well, that hit hard. Can’t say I wasn’t warned though."

"Brilliant, bringing this kind of experience and story to an event like Ludum Dare is is truely amazing. Thank you so much."

"… this game has practically left me speechless."

"...while there’re always lots of gems in the game jams, games that people just have to see are still pretty rare. Yours is like that though."

"WOW. Just… wow. Thanks for sharing that."

Thank you everyone for your support, and if you haven't checked out our game yet, we hope you do.
