Progress!

Got up at 3 AM to start working on my entry… It’s now 11 AM… and I havn’t got far…!
What I’ve got is gravity  that can change between four direction and collition between the player and the map. and it can read maps from a .txt … But I haven’t got a map-editor yet so I manipulate the maps by directly editing the txt …

Anyway, here’s how it looks! The graphics are temporary and haven’t got animations.  I hope I get done in time …

Looking good! You probably don’t need a level editor for an LD though.

Thank you!

Yaay..

Still making progress!
Now the gameplay is almost done.. I just need some AI and different levels.
Oh.. and I need to animate and make the sound design too.

Time to go to bed!

22 hours of development! The gameplay is 90% finished… I’ll mainly focus on designing levels tomorrow…

I’m finished!

Wow, I’m actually finished after 42 hours of coding… I didn’t think I’d get done in time!

Anyway, here it is! (Click the image to play)

A question…

Hello! This weekend was my first LD and it was a lot of fun, I’ll definitely join next time too! 😀

Anyway I was wondering about something…

How are the entries scored from the judging? Are the results purely based on the average rating? Wouldn’t that result in the possibility of some game that only one person voted 5 stars on being able to win even though it might be worse than say a game that has 4.78 stars and is rated by hundreds of people? Looking at past entries that seems unlikely.. all the winners are of exceptional quality! Is that because there is like a minimum of votes a game needs to taken into consideration for the final score?

There was nothing about this in the rules.. sorry if it’s been asked before, but I couldn’t find anything about it!:o

Thanks! :)

It is not only average rating. I do not know the exact formula they use (though I do know the forumla for the default score*), but I do know it’s a mix of average score and number of ratings.

Many people rate only games those have the fewer votes. By the end of the judging time, minimal amount of votes will be about 10.

Ok, my favourites!

Over 80 games played and here is my top 3 so far:

1)  A thing about nothing

A visually interesting game of a philosopher traveling the world to find the meaning of it all.
It’s funny, it’s gorgeous and it’s intelligent. Very well executed.
The only let-down is the audio.

2) Hunter HungeHunter Hunger is simply about a prehistoric man trying to feed himself and his starving children. The game looks fantastic and uses interesting and well implemented game mechanics that feel very polished

3) (Follow the) Line
Press any key to change direction of the line.
For me this game is the only clear 5 in the “Theme”-category. The user input is simple, and yet doesn’t cripple the gameplay but enhances it. The graphics are minimal but still very fresh and stylish.

So, that’ll be all for me… do try these games out because they really deserve it!  😀

Oh btw.. I’m working on a post-ludumdare update for my own game.. It’s going to have animations and music and probably a few more levels.. I’ll probably finish it tomorrow.. :)

I think I’m in!

I might not have time but I’d love too, it was so much fun last time… I’ll do my best to clear my schedule!

I’m proud of what I did last time, but this time I want to make music and animations too, something I didn’t have time for last time..

wish me luck! 😀

Forgot to say I’m in…

…but I’m in! This is my fourth LD, and also fourth in a row.. I’m hooked!

Day one wasn’t very productive, I started too late and was simply lazy, but now I’m back on track and I will have a finished game tomorrow! It may be very boring, but still a game 😛
