I'm in - console style

I will be making a console game this time. Though not out of nostalgia since I've never really played any old school text adventures. The reason is that I, for the most time, enjoy working with Linux shells and I am interested how would it translate to a game.

I will be using framework I have written beforehand https://github.com/VHonzik/gash and I will most likely polish and release it after LD is done. It's based on .NET Core, cross platform implementation of .NET, so that will be exciting to try out. Oh and I will be writing in C# with Visual studio and I don't plan on doing any graphics or sounds. I know, what a cheap-ass, right?

Good luck to everyone!

Explore small World on Underbury

"Focusing on gameplay served this game well." In my opinion, I've managed to pack insane amount of gameplay into this one. Chances are many people won't like it for the same reason many people don't like working with terminals. Since it's a console game I completely abandoned graphics and sounds and that gave me a lot of time to focus on what I wanted: atmosphere, gameplay and little bit of story. I have yet to finish it in non-cheaty way just because of sheer amount of content.

I will also have to work on Linux version, I had troubles making it work. Damn you .Net Core.

I'm in!

Last LD I gave up very frustrated in the middle of the event, so this time I am taking things slow. I am coming in prepared with a framework in Unity of 2D top-down dungeon crawler with very minimalistic graphics and I will attempt to enjoy the process of making instead of usual stressful weekend.

GL & HF everyone!

Dungeon of Forking Paths: Chapter 41

Making some progress on the first installment of, what I plan to be, a short game collection Dungeons of Forking Paths.

Based on the theme I decided to combine dungeon crawler with a romance game. You play as a boy searching for love in unlikely place of retro dungeon. It's not gonna be easy though because your potential love interests are anything but damsel in distress.

Underground Love finished

Surprisingly enough, I am done in compo time and with a reserve.

For those still fighting, don't give up!

I am in - Time for a new framework

This will hopefully be my 8th LD entry.

Recently I was getting a little sick of Unity and few weak attempts at Unreal discouraged me very quickly.

Since I really want to develop in C++ and I've never had a passion for 3D games I will be trying out SDL2 next weekend for the first time. It's a little bit more low-level than I have hoped, so I am working on bare bones engine to get me started.

Other than SDL2, it will be the usual: Visual Studio, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audacity.

Good luck to everyone and don't work yourself too hard ;)

"Your PC run out of space" done

I've finished my themed fruit-ninja clone with some hours to spare. I could try to make a second level but in order to keep this weekend stress-less I am gonna end right here. Good luck & have fun to those still fighting, you can do it.

I am in! This time with company...

Mandatory I am in post, this time I brought company and we will be a team of 3, making an awesome game in Unity, Aseprite and Bosca Ceoil. The dream of LD with "art people" in the team is here, get excited! Good luck to everyone and try not to stress out too much.

Fathom Pass will be dark and short

I've made a lot of progress on my "visual" teletext novel compo entry including some voice over because who wants to read pages of text right?

I have also realized that I really enjoy voicing my story games despite generally not liking my own voice that much.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows however, my render to texture set-up is working fine in Unity editor but breaks when I build Windows standalone. Which is problem since you genuinely can't play the game without it. Web player is luckily working fine so I might have to stick with just that, which that's okey.

Good luck to y'all and don't push yourself too hard!

Looking for Strategy games to play (and rate)

I am not a streamer or youtuber or anything but I really enjoy playing LD strategy games of all sorts, if you have made one or saw a cool one, let me know, I would love to try it and I will leave some honest feedback. Even it's a Jam one that's not finished, let me know here and I will follow you and wait for it.

I might start a list here in case other people are interested.

"Girl in a red car" finished

I wasn't feeling well over the weekend so I set out to make something simple. It also helped I came well prepared this time around.

Girl in a red car is a short text adventure game where you, the main protagonist, were hired to do a few small maintenance chores on a house. Should be easy enough for any sane, stable human being right? Right?

Good luck to everyone else and I am looking forward to trying out your games
