I’m in, almost certainly going to attempt to write a game in SVG/Javascript as a proof of concept for a larger idea. I’ll be using a program I wrote a while back to generate some of the more repetitive SVG code from XML/XSL, and maybe some of the animations if I get that far. It’s got a Google Code page for those who are interested http://code.google.com/p/batchsvg/

Given I’ve never used Javascript with SVG, and SVG games are fraught with issues anyway, the chances of producing an unplayable trainwreck are pretty high

I’m in

I’m in again. Having learned nothing from crashing and burning last time, I’m going to (attempt) to learn a new environment and language as I go (Get Moai/Lua). (original choice of technologies abandoned as it’s too hard to embed in the browser) I’m using Javascript and the HTML5 Canvas, no external game libraries, (depending on the theme) only programmatically generated graphics, and only a limited knowledge of web technologies.

Expect some unplayable, cryptic piece of crap to follow.

Not sure about language/environment yet. It will either be JS/HTML5, JS/SVG, Java, Lua/Love2D, C++/MadeWithMarmalade, or maybe something I don’t already know like Google Dart, Haxe, or JavaFX. Actually, yeah, probably Dart, so Actually it will be Javascript+HTML5+SVG (the warmup with Dart proved doesn’t get along with SVG very well):

  • Language: Google Dart JavaScript
  • Graphics: SVG (generated using BatchSVG) and maybe a little Gimp
  • Sound: CFXR and (if I get time to make background music) Wolfram Alpha Tones (assuming that’s allowed) (not allowed, has a harsh license) this thing: http://codeminion.com/blogs/maciek/2008/05/cgmusic-computers-create-music/
  • Engine: none

I came second in innovation last time and got heaps of great feedback (thanks everyone!), so I’ll see if I can pull out another odd-ball game/concept.

I’m in! I’ll (probably) be using

  • Javascript
  • HTML5 Drag and Drop
  • SVG for graphics
  • JSONT or in-browser XSLT for turning objects into HTML/SVG

I’m guessing I wont have time for audio this time around.

I’ll be hosting the thing through Github pages, which means it gets deployed every time I check in (pretty neat hey?). You can watch the progress on the project page (obviously I haven’t started yet, so there’s nothing much there at the moment).

Ludum Dare, I Am In You

Language: TypeScript
Graphics: SVG
Animations: SMIL
Platform: Web/HTML5
Audio: SFXR, maybe a couple of sounds sourced from the real world

I’m in Sydney, Australia, so the event starts at like 1pm on Saturday for us (and finishes at 1pm on Monday). Fortunately I’m unemployed.
