My theme suggesttions for my first Ludum Dare are: * From dusk till dawn * Running out of time * In the rush
My theme suggesttions for my first Ludum Dare are: * From dusk till dawn * Running out of time * In the rush

As mentioned before, this will be my first Ludum Dare, and my first game jam in general. In the past, I heard some people say about Ludum Dare: The theme always sucks. Now the voting rounds are open and I think these people were right. Although I liked some of the past themes.
Sorry, I did not find this information. How long is the rating time after the game jam is finished? And ist the rating already open, when the compo is finished but the jam is still running?
... but at least it is not "Limited Memory". I have my Idea and now I'm working on my prototype. Good luck for everybody!
I'm making much less progress than expected. But at least I have something ...

I'm done. Yeah, there is so much more I could do, but not in the remaining time. So have fun with my little platformer: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/dont-pay-with-your-life

I finally found the time to create a post-jam version of my game. In addition to some general improvements, I have also considered your suggestions. Among other things, I improved the combat system and the dialogue system. If you have not yet tested "Don't pay with your life", give it a try!

Thanks to all who played and voted my little game. I'm quiet happy with the result. Compared to the last time I could improve in all categories.

If you want to try out out my game: Living Forrest
One last question: Are the rankings split into Compo and Jam or are these over-all-rankings?
Just in time, I finished uploading my game "Living Forrest". I am quiet happy with the result. So far, there is only the source code and a Windows-Build. I had some trouble with the WebGL-Build (that cost me a lot of time), so this will have to wait until tomorrow. Time to sleep now.
Congratualations to all COMPO-Finisher!

Finally I had the time to implement some new features to my game Living Forrest. The enemies' cities are now destroyable. So by destroying both of them, you can win the game and make your forrest life forever.
And there is a new enemy type that will show up from time to time: The Big Dozer.
Try it out now!

... one of my theme suggestions made it to the voting round.
And I'm not sure, if I like it any more ... 🙄

Have you also started brainstorming? I usually start, whithin the final voting round and try to come up at least with some rough ideas for the themes. Especially for that ones, I like the least.
It just usually doesn't work that well because in the end the theme wins that I had no idea for. 💩😭💩
I'm not a native english speaker, so I have a language question:
Theme: Summoning
I thought it meant to summon a monster / demon or whatever. But according to translators, therefor the word "incanation" or "evocation" is used. So is Summoning more likely used to summon someone to the curt or into the army?
Can't really believe that my theme suggestion made it! And now? I have a creative blockade. My former gameplay idea sucks and I have no new plan. 😭
I'm finished with the gameplay mechanics. This is the first time in a game jam, I programmed first. Now is Art-Time. I have to make this ugly but fun game to a pretty and fun game now.
My game is an homage to a sci-fi series that I like a lot ...

Ludum Dare 48 done! Let's begin playing ... ;-)
My game for LD 48 is an homage to one of my favorite sci-fi series, to Battlestar Galactica. But now when I read comments or watch streamers playing the game on Twitch, I'm very supprised, that only a few people seem to know the series.
So I ask direcly: Are there still other BSG fans out there, who would like to take a seat in the Viper cockpit and grill some cylons?

This time my ranking was okay for me. I'm happy, the graphics and audio created a good mood and therefore the results in these three categories are quite satisfying. Especially being in the top 15% in graphics is great.
