I’m in!

Hey there,

another newcomer enters the fray. I will be using Stencyl, The Gimp for “graphics”, and BFXR for sound effects. Don’t think I’ll be able to do any music, but if there is time, I might try out Musagi and see if I can’t make some really crappy tunes. 😉

We’ll see if I actually finish anything. Regardless of the outcome, I’m sure it will be fun. :)

Cheers, Marcus

Oh cool, you’re using Stencyl too? THis should be interesting, then. 😉

Don’t expect anything great. Actually, don’t expect anything at all. 😀 I can’t wait to see what others like you do with it, though. :)

The tiny world of a firefly

Hey guys!

Woke up just 4.5 hours ago (8 am in Germany). I had been eagerly anticipating the final theme and I really didn’t expect “Tiny World” to win. After having breakfast, I started brainstorming ideas and think I’ve finally come up with something.

No prototype yet, but here’s the idea: You control a firefly and have to guide it through the big world without touching anything. Your goal is to reach the light at the far end of the level as fast as possible. You know… the firefly’s world is really tiny compared to the human world.
Minimalistic art style, because I am not an artist and never will be. 😉

Nothing original, nothing ambitious, but I really hope to finish it on time. It would be my first “published” game, after all. :)

Some progress…

Hey guys,

I have been celebrating my birthday with the family, so I haven’t been able to achieve much. At least I now have working mouse controls for the little firefly. No graphics apart from two circles representing that flying bug, so no screenshots, yet. But with controls out of the way, I can now concentrate on more visual matters. 😉

By the way, I heartily recommend using Google Docs drawings to organize your projects. I’m using it for the first time to draw a mind map of my game, with notes, To-Do list etc. Really helpful, if quick ‘n dirty. :)

Cheers, Marcus
