I thought I'm ready. I thought since this is my first LD I'll do my best.
Well, after one day gone I can say that I'm not ready!
Sure, it's easy. You get some topic. You write down some ideas. You pick one idea and expand it to a whole gameplay. You make the game. Easy, right.
Well yes, it is easy if you know what you do.
I decided to use Unreal Engine 4 and Aseprite. Why? Bcs I love them both. No, picking Unity won't help much.
Imagination, I got stuck with my imagination ...
I got great idea for a game. I like the game and I'd even play it myself. The problem is that my imagination is strong but my graphical skills are so f*king weak.
I spent a whole day on trying to create some sweet pixel art designs ...
So far I noticed that my graphical skills are limited to "copy" somebody's design and change it to "your idea".
Sure, it's not so bad but what now. I had just front facing characters, nothing else, no side view, nada (Spanish for nothing).
Also, it was by birthday (2.12.) and to be honest so far everything goes bad.
No real game design, no idea how to make the game into working game in UE4, not so much time, not enjoyed birthday, nothing as I expected.
Sadly it looks like this was a bad time, not enough preparation and overall disapointment of my skills.
Maybe, I won't promise a sh*t but maybe ... I'll try to finish the game and learn on it the things I couldn't do for LD40.
Maybe LD41 is gonna be different. Hard to say.
Well, to close this drunk speech
Those of you who had the time to read this ... I wish you a lot of luck :fourleafclover:!
I saw many posts here and you guys are awesome. I'm a programmer for many years and I still wonder what other people can do in so short time.
