I’m in, barring an emergency

Hello!

Posting for the first time to say that I’m in for now. Depending on the theme I may decide I want to do the jam rather than the compo, but we’ll see. This is my first Ludum Dare and I’m so excited!

I’ll be using:

Unity or Processing or Twine (depending on the theme and the idea I come up with)

Photoshop, Illustrator, and Hexels

Audacity, bfxr, and freesound.org

Good luck to everyone!

Brainstorm Sesh

So…I’m making a game where you use a truth-powered weapon to fight an abomination that feeds on lies and fakery. My original idea came from a conversation I had with a friend earlier today about how hard it can be to get people to tell the truth and be real with you instead of hiding behind white lies. I was gonna do a truth or dare style game to try to get people to open up to each other, but that sort of thing is better for a physical game.

You can tell the truth to increase your damage but go slower, lie to increase your speed but do less damage, and of course move, shoot, and slash. I was thinking the monster would use a mask as a shield, so that’s what’s in the drawing below in addition to the monster. There’s also a punk rock playlist if you can read my handwriting. I’m entering the jam, so we’ll see how far I get with this and how much I have to scope down.

Jam Progress

Made a whole host of mistakes this Ludum Dare and probably won’t finish in time for the jam:

1. Started working in Unity’s 2D system when I’ve been using NGUI for almost a year.

2. Picked a game genre I have never made before.

3. Got hung up on making a cool animation when I should have been coding.

However, I have learned a lot about where my knowledge is lacking and I am happy with the stuff I have so far. Will definitely continue working on it. Who knows, maybe I’ll pull something out at the last minute.
