My very first Ludum Dare!

Two hours of work - including finding the right idea. So hardcore to do the artwork on my own as a programmer. Working on character sprites now. Parallax background ready!

So glad to be here with you guys!

Overestimated my skills, not able finish the game on time, but maximally HAPPY!

I think I overestimated my skills. It is my first Ludum Dare and what I did in the past is just some prototypes of games in Unity (simple 2D sidescroller movement+camera, same for top-down 2D and some 3D RTS AI). What I finished is Pong and Tetris - Tetris is actually good (with SFX and animations).

Nevertheless this is what I've done so far this weekend - boxes will be replaced for skeletons and the big box is castle! https://streamable.com/c1w1h

:one: It gave me a lot! I learned so much about colliders and layers in Unity. During programming the scripts a finally found a good reason why to use abstract class and interface - and that's a hella great feeling for a fresh programmer! I learned that I can draw something on my iPad on one large picture (e.g. 10 small objects in one PSD/PNG) and in Unity just trim those pictures into single sprites. Did my first painting for a game - never painted anything in my life. Feels good man. =) And many more...

:two: What is the game going to be about: I am thinking to allow main hero to fly. Then add flying monsters as well. Hero must protect the castle. Some enemies will go only after castle, some only after the player. Player's fireballs will cost his life. Life can be restored by harvesting a souls from specific fallen enemies. You can push forward - towards a base of enemy and destroy it. After each level you MUST pick two cards. One which benefits the player, second brings some penalty to the player (e.g. Fireballs cost no player's health but you cast them slower).

Hope you enjoyed this Ludum Dare as I did! Good luck in your devs.
