Ludum Dare 46

My First Game Jam Ever

Hi there!

I'm new around here, what? Why? I don't know, maybe because always wanted to do something around games but never dared? Always this business and business stuff. Well I do programming little bit longer than LDJAM is around, occasionally I happen to make some art... and why not.

No big expectations, I'm here just for fun!

Good luck everyone!

PS. Meanwhile we are waiting for final round, you might want to take a look at my approach to Conwey's Life in SQL Server.

Report from Day 1

Hello People,

Saturday came and went in an incredible speed. Here is what we can show you so far.

White (card)bord of ideas and graphic thinking process: 20200418em142828/emsmall.jpg

And some gameplay (Rafal can't drive well, as you can see ;)): BatteryLife Day1.gif

The project is called Battery Life, because we didn't like the assumption that if a player fails, then someone will die. So we came up with a tiny robot with a very low capacity battery.

Report from Day 2

Hi there,

We are tired, but pretty happy with the results we've got today: - the in-game graphic elements are ready and implemented; - the sound effects are recorded and edited (not added yet, thou); - the draft for cover art/menu is ready; - and most importantly all game mechanics are implemented.

Check out our progress below:

The game is finished!

Hi there,

We are happy to announce that we managed to finish entire game in exactly 24 working hours and we encourage you to try it. Bellow you can see our trailer and remember to leave a comment, rate us, like us or whatever us. We are tired but feeling happy and accomplished. Yeey, we created our first game ever! Thank you and good night :)

BatteryLife Ludum Dare 46 entry

BatteryLife got fixed UI scaling and now runs in your browser

Hello everyone!

While playing other LD46 games I was haunted by a bug which caused UI and maze of our game be cut while playing on other dimensions/aspect rations than FullHD.

Letterboxing didn't work well with PixelPerfect camera and trying to scale all game objects and child objects threw physics completely off balance - although I found out that slowing down a robot to snail pace might be actually fun... especially with low battery level ->backlog.

Anyway, I got finally idea to move camera with the robot instead and call it a day. Good that should be simple, right? Well, not necessarily. At best camera would shiver like crazy, I doubt anyone would like this seizure inducing feature.... than it struck me! Wait a sec, if I move camera around and camera is parent to virtually all other objects in the scene.... crap! Fixed, case closed. Still it's not perfect, UI scales nicely but maze wouldn't scale but that's for later. By the way if anyone has any idea how to tame this please let me know in comments.

So now official change-log: - New version is available as HTML5 - UI scales to screen size - Camera moves around with the robot

Windows version is still the original LD46 submission.

So enjoy the game, please remember to play it on full screen, feedback is welcome!
