I am in! This is will my first and hardest game jam

You see, this will take place during my exams, so I'll have to find a way to get some time!

Game engine - Construct 3

IDE- No clue what that means

Music - possibly opengameart, or bosca ceoil

Art - photoshop

I think I got a somewhat playable game and I have an idea, too

So, the idea is that you have to complete the level in the given time limit, if not, you reset and have to play again, I know, not the best, look I could not wake up at 3 am even though I put an alarm, so after 4 hours, I woke up up had 30 minutes until my exam, so, maybe next time, I will be more prepaired.Capture.PNG

So far...

edit: never mind :*(

I AM DONE!

Finally! I did my game! I had to study for my exams and do the jam, sheesh! https://mrchickenboy.itch.io/evo-loop-tion! I can't figure out how to upload pictures and its hella late.

Hiya! I wanted to share in depth what I used for the jam, you can use them too!

𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲:

For the code, I used Construct 3, with only two days of experience from it (along with 1 year of experience from scratch and 2 months from unity) I got the hang of it really quickly! So, if you really want to jam but don't know how to start, use consturct! You can use scratch, too, but Construct is just better.

𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀:

Well, to be frank, for the music, I just used OpenGameArt, but for the sound effects, I used Leshy SFMaker, it is like sfxr, but it is online, so no download.

Okay, so that art. The art was made using PhotoShop, my brother made it, if you don't have photpshop, you can use free sofwares iike gimp or paint.net, there is a lot to choose from. Here are the links for the softwared I mentioned

Paint.Net

Gimp:

That's it for me, folks!

I FINALLY CHOSE WHAT ENGINE TO USE HARD-CORE!!!

Okay, some people will disagree but, I chose Godot:

1) It's free

2) It uses GD-script, which is like Python, which my brother can help me

3) It just clicked

4) I like the layout

What games do you guys use and what have you used?

Ah, back to Unity

Because of the lack of tutorials in Godot, I left it. I went to construct, though, it only allows a certain amount of code, which I quickly exceeded, so, I am back to Unity, in a hope of not leaving! :)

Agh! Help! (In Godot)

So, this is the main scene.

Capture.PNG

I have another scene for the meteor.

This is the code.

Capture1.PNG

I want to spawn multiple of these meteors in the main scene and I don't know how.

This was fun

I didn't win (obviously) but I don't care, I had fun

I did @peace-of-cake-games's challenge.

He told me to remake his game, and I did here, made this in an hour or so https://www.construct.net/en/free-online-games/outside-loop-ludum-dare-47-18328/play

Help, ASAP

In godot, I'm making a collision script, so, I have made a for loop looping through all the bodies the key collided with and if it is im the 'Player' group, then it prints something

The code -

If you look at the bottom, there are these debug messages and I have no clue what it means.

Taking part in LD :)

I recently got a license for Construct 3 so I'll be using that for code. Aseprite of pixel art and BeepBox or LMMS for music and bfxr for sound effects! I am really excited for the jam as it's the first time I'll be able to make a good game, because last time I was a noob :p

THE HYPE IS MASSIVE.

I am so hyped for LD! This was the jam that skyrocketed my game dev skills! Here is a list of what I'll be using:

Game engine: I'll be using Construct 3 for this jam. I would be using Godot but a kind person gifted my a C3 license for free! I'll be using either pygame or godot next time!

Music: I'll be using LMMS or Beepbox for music, I learned some new music skills so I'm excited to try those out

Art: I recently got aseprite so I'll be using that! I might use Krita for the thumbnail
