My first Ludum Dare

Hello everyone!

I've wanted to participate in a Ludum Dare jam for quite some time now, but never had anyone to do it with. This weekend I've decided I'll go at it even if alone. So here I am, first time doing anything close to a jam on my own. Hopefully I'll do a good job!

Also, I'll be streaming the whole process at twitch.tv/cheesesky, mainly to keep me focused. So come by to chat about ideas or just to relax. Anyone is welcome!

Got some ideas, gotta sleep though

So I've come up with some ideas which I think could work. Right now what I'm thinking about is what I called a "jumpy shooter" in my stream. I'm a bit afraid that it could be too hard for a newb like me, but you have to start somewhere! Essentially, you could hang on to walls and platforms, which would start going down eventually, hence, making you Run out of space.

It's time to sleep now, tomorrow first thing is to figure out how to hang on walls!

Progress so far

Hello!

So, I've been working on what I'm calling a "Jumpy Shooter" for now. I've cut a highlight of my stream to post a bit of what I've done so far.

So far I have a working "jetpack", a laser beam, a "latching onto a wall" mechanic and falling walls (which can fall by touch alone or only after you latch onto them).

Here's a link to the video!

Done for the day.

I've got an executable going if you want to give my game a try. It's got only the mechanics done so far, but any feedback is appreciated!

I've got an itch.io page going, where you can download the game.

Keys are simple, aim and click to shoot, right mouse button to latch onto the walls and spacebar to jump (and use the jetpack).

Also, I tried to do some sort of wall jump, to add more velocity to the game, give some feedback on that.

I've been having a blast reading all these posts and going through the challenge of finishing a game jam on my own!
