LD 41

I'm in!!

My name is Mo. I'm fairly new to game development and I'm excited about LD41. I've participated in a few game jams hosted on itch.io but never completed a game over a weekend. I'm looking forward to this challenge 馃榾

I will be using:

Unity Inkscape Bosca Ceol / Audacity

Caves Of Mimicry

Finally, I just about managed to submit my game in time. COM is a Match-3 2D Survival Shooter and is the only thing that I could think of, when the theme was announced. It's a game based in a cave, where you survivev against spawning deadly copies of yourself, with platforms that are movable like match-3 blocks.

I glad that I managed to do a compo in my first ever Ludum Dare. It was truly an exhilirating experiance for me and I wish to participate in many more LDs to come.

Cave of Mimicry Executable

I've uploaded a Windows and Mac version for anyone who cannot run the game on the site because they don't have the plugin. You can play it here: https://mzadz.itch.io/caves-of-mimicry.

Heres also a GIF :D

Better Late Than Never... Updated Match-3 Survival Platformer

Play Here

I've finally made major changes to the game and as a result the match-3 platforming combinations works better now.

When it came to the mechanics, I scaled down the options of weapon to a single weapon. I felt that many weapons were not needed from observations of people playing the game.

Other than that :-

  • Character Movement is more precise.

  • Sound effects are implemented.

  • Slightly more detailed environments.

  • Bigger level.

  • The abililty to squash your enemies with a block.

  • When enemies run to each other, they get destroyed.

  • The most important thing is that the match-3 mechanics work!!

A huge thank you to everyone who rated my game and/or left feedback and to the LD community for all the support!!

LD 42

Lets Do This!

This'll be my second Ludum Dare. I'm gonna make a better game than I did before!

I'll most likely use Unity. Animations: Spriter Artwork: Photoshop Audio/Music: Possibly FL Studio Code; Visual Studio 2017

Just Curious about the Voting?

It looks as if the final round of voting will include the most voted for themes of rounds 1-3. Is that right?

Running out of Space, Running Out of Time

Finally, It took a while but I got all the basic building blocks in. Submitting for the compo is very unlikely but i'm hopeful to meet the jam deadline.

Still a it buggy though. XD

What did you guys use to create your music / SFX?

* Audio is definately not my strong point. I played soo many games with great audio and I want to know the tools you use - so that I can experiment and up my audio game. *

Was Switching Engines Mid-Jam a Good Idea...?

I've create a post-mortem of Bunny Bazooka, which includes why I took pictures of my pyjamas, why I switched game engines, my struggles and a lot more.

This is a reflection and a reminder of my experiance. You may find it usefull, particularly if you are new to game jams.

  • Camera always follows player. This means controls are less confusing.
  • Shorter levels to begin with. No boring long levels.
  • Level progression GUI

Unityem2018-08-23/em23-13-19.png

  • Smoke now instantiated behind player. This ensures that you see the player at all times.
  • Suttle smoke effect on enemy impact

Suttle Smoke effect.gif

  • Adjusted many sound effects pitch and volume to make them less repetetive
  • Meteors are breakable

Meteors break.gif

  • What goes around comes around. Bazookas can hit you know and they linger on longer.

bullets Hurt.gif

  • The unlimited jumping mechanic was a bug but its useful to traverse the little planet. Therefore, when you double tap space, you shoot a bazooka downwards and it propels you up... and I couldnt fix the bug XD

  • There is a damaging asteroid belt circling the planet. This is to stop you spamming space :P

People rejoice. Screenshake was the no. 1 issue with this game. So I toned it down LOL.

Bunny Bazooka's new Customizable Settings

Minor Update.png

Bunny Bazooka now has a new settings UI. You can now choose the controls for jumping, moving and shooting. I plan to bring Joystick/Gamepad support soon also.

You can now adjust the volumes for music and the sound effects too :).
