Ludum Dare 56

It was my first jam

This was my first time participating in a game jam. I have very little experience in game development—only about three months—so my main goal was simply to release any game at all so that in the future, as I continue to join jams, I can track my progress.

On the first day, when the jam just started, I was unsure of myself and even questioned whether I should participate. But I decided I had nothing to lose, so I gave it a shot. Within the first few hours, I realized that it was a good decision. I discovered that creating animations wasn’t as hard as I had thought, and I even started to enjoy the process. I felt satisfied with my progress because, initially, I had feared I wouldn’t be able to handle anything at all.

After gaining a bit of confidence, I began working on the core mechanics of my game. However, I encountered several problems that I didn’t know how to solve, and unfortunately, I couldn’t implement all the ideas I had in mind. By the end of the first day, my game didn’t even have gameplay yet. But I was determined to see it through, and on the second day, I started working with the belief that I could make it work.

Unfortunately for me, I had to step away from the project for about five hours, and because I lost so much time and had little experience in game development, my game didn’t turn out as exciting as I had hoped.

Despite this, I’m very glad I participated, and now I’m motivated to make sure my next game jam entry is much better. I’d also like to give a special shout-out to @xk-the-name for inspiring me to take part. Screenshot_1.png
