Just two words to say: thank you!

It is overhelming - 21th in theme is awesome and 77th in Overall. Also the other ratings are good :)

So as usual this is the mandatory "I'm in" Post. If everything works fine i would make my 15th Ludum Dare Game in a Row without any break.
The last jam worked pretty well for me (even if i hated the theme and the game was okisch). In my last 14th times the "April" Editions were the hardest one and not my best games. But who knows - maybe this breaks the chain ?
Normally when the jam starts at 3 o clock i would go early to bed and wake up early to get the theme. This time i dont want to - i just stay up a bit and go normal as friday late too bed (but before the theme announcement) and will start fresh on saturday morning.
I did that last time at the very first game jam so why not ?
I wish everyone here good luck, a much of fun and a good jam.
Btw...mike ...is there this time no Keynote video again ? ;)
well i am not sure this time if i will really finish it.

The problem is that i am bit unmotivated this time and have too much tasks open. We will see :)
Are unfinished game participants are allowed to rate games ?
I am not sure if i make it this time lol.

Please play and rate and if you want leave a comment :) Its not my best game but the graphics are okisch :D
As there 3 Pizza Rushes Games out there (yep...really:D) you can play mine...if you want. It has not the best controls but some nice pixel art visuals.

Today is release day and i am happy to announce that my game "Super Drunken Guy" is available today for Nintendo Switch.
Super Drunken Guy is a platformer which i initially made for a nerd party where you get drunken the more beer you collect. The drunk idea was previosly an idea for a part of my LD40 Jam ("The more you have, the worse it is").
Some of the gameplay footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxk8Tp74aXQ
You can get it here if you want:

PS4 & PS5 Ports are planned and in progress :)
Sadly i noticed that the weekend when LD 54 will happen i am out of business and i am not able to take part.
This will be a weired situation. Since LD39 now i took part in every Ludum Dare (so it was 15 in row).
I also took part in a jam where i was on holiday (which was in 2018) and since i am again on holiday i have to time to take part this time.
Too bad as the winter/atum jams are my best and lovely mostly.
My best games for myself was: Claimbeer, Hyper Skater and Wonderland - they might be not the best in ratings but had a special place in my heart :).
I wish you all a good jam.

This is the first time i am out since 2017 where is first started. Normally i found time everytime but this time i am on vacation.
Maybe i could make an extra game but to be honest - its not the same :).
Best luck to all of you and have fun.
Hey, my question is : when i submit to extra can i rate normal jam and compo games as usual ? I didnt got it this time to the normal Ludum Dare so someone told me that i could maybe try the extra format.
As i would have some time this weekend i think about it. I know i wouldn't get any rating but some feedback maybe.
As i didnt contributed this time, i would support some of your games.
So first i post this game from Phaix which is really nice and still needs 2 Ratings - so please help him :)
Play into the vents now : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/into-the-vents

As i am just still playing games i would like if you support this nice game. Its from Snowdrama (the guy with the LD47 Keynote) and his friends.
They still needs 8 ratings - so for what are you waiting for ?

First: none of my +1 votes made it into the final round. Looking to the final round themes there are only just 2 that would be ok for me.
But as we learned as usual: you can make any game based on any theme if you want! So thats no excuse haha.
Second my setup: - :paintbrush: Aseprite - :musicalscore: Beepbox or FL Studio - :sound: Bfxr mostly - :videogame: ?
So as you noticed - game engine is missing. Normally i used Unity everytime and also first planned with it. But this time i think about to use a new engine for this jam and it might be Defold or GoDot.
So here is the conflict of unspoken "Game Jam" rules. As all jammers know there is this rule:
BUT..
There is another tip often heard by people say:
Both things are true - it depends on the goal you want to achieve. - If the goal is to win a jam or to get a good ranking you need to make a good game. For this you should use a setup you already know. - If the goal is to get familiar with a new tool or engine and force yourself to use this - a game jam is a good idea to do.
I remembered my fist Ludum Dare (LD39) and before that i used Unity but not as much and focused before. The gamejam forces you to focus on it and that is great as you learn how stuff works in this toolset. My first game was not the best - far away from it. But it was the experience that i can make a game with this tool.
So thats the lesson for now: Get into your mind what is your goal for the Game Jam you want to reach.
Happy jamming.
Before you get focused on the game jam you might want to chill out with a small round of Super Drunken guy. I released the game on 5th April and i thought about to giveaway some steam keys.
But just as the easiest form - i post the keys and the first you get it activated wins. I hope this is ok for mike.
This btw. is Super Drunken Guy:

Here are the keys - good luck :)

As in the theme voting round when you translate the theme to german the first hit means something different like "called in the army" or go to army.
But after i saw the different meanins it means more like "casting spells". So indeed it is not a bad theme - could make funny games out of it.
So i will start now slowly..have an idea and will try if i get this managed in Defold ..and if not if i get this in GoDot :). I want to force myself not using Unity anymore and i am happy to see how it will work.
Actually yes..but no
As i planned to learn new engines and started using Defold i made some progress but then i hang and didn't got further and didn't find out really how stuff works.
So the question was..should i now try to learn GoDot again ? And the answer is : yes :)
To motivate myself a bit more i had really funny and hilarius idea..i hope i get it into the gameplay mood.

Coming from Unity and using GoDot is a real great experience.
I mean..setting up autotiles is a so damn fast process. However - i will try it in GoDot this time and not using Unity (which is the first time i didn't used an other engine than unity).
Thats the title screen.

And this is the game:

I plan to write a longer post mortem of it.
First an Attention: This game has bugs - some of them require to restart the game. Sorry for that.
Second: it is a short game and i hope i can make a postjam version of it with more items and how it was REALLY supposed to it.
I will post in the next day a detailed post mortem as its interesting what's happen if you switch from a new engine to another new engine on saturday evening :D
